KYM and I had picked this game out a week or two ago, though I did contemplate for a moment or two staying indoors in the warm before putting my thermals on and heading eastwards.
15th v 3rd at start of play, but Raunds thoroughly deserved their point, showing their battling qualities by twice coming from behind on a frosty night in Northamptonshire.
Whitworth opened the scoring on 32 minutes. Raunds appealed for a foul against the Whitworth left winger but he was allowed to continue and his cross was tucked home by number 8.
The hosts levelled on the stroke of half time through a well placed shot from number 10.
With the pitch sounding crunchier as the evening wore on, the opening half hour of the second period had very little action before bursting into life with two goals in two minutes. Number 8 grabbed his, and Whitworth's, second on 76 minutes only for number 7 to level again on 78.
A fair result on the balance of play.
I was, naturally, delighted to find road closures on both the M5 and the M42 on my return journey, eventually arriving home at 23:15.

I wonder whether the unsavoury incident at the beginning of this season, between Arlesey Town and Potton United at Hitchin Road, had been forgotten at the Hutchinson Hollow where there were allegations of racist abuse and the fixture was abandoned after an hour. See the match programme:
