Regardless of football I had to make a return trip from Manchester to West London, so I was grateful for the chance to tick off a new ground with only a slight detour. More of a pitch tick really, as Aston Clinton have moved just a few yards since I went in 2010.
Back then they played on the further of two pitches from the car park, whereas they now use the closer one, which is equipped with a pair of permanent dugouts. The playing is roped off and it remains a basic venue. A smart pavilion has appeared behind the goal, which includes and independently run café which served me a decent coffee and egg and sausage roll before kick off.
Poor game in all honesty, not helped by the state of the pitch or the cold wind that blew across the ground. Shots on target were rare. Old Bradwell looked more likely to score, until they had a player sent off with 15 minutes left. Still, if it hadn't been for this game I'd have struggled to get to a new ground, so no complaints about the quality.
