"The board of St. Albans City F.C. have introduced concessionary admission

prices for the remaining home games at Clarence Park for this season,

commencing with the Ryman League Premier Division game against Billericay

Town F.C. this Saturday, February 7th, 2004, as follows:

a). Young persons aged 12 or under will be admitted free of charge.

B). The admission price for those aged 13-16 will be £3.

c). A new 'Family Ticket' has been introduced at a price of £12 which

permits entry for two adults and two children. The Family Ticket includes a

voucher which allows a 50p discount on burgers or hot dogs at the tea-bar.

d). Any person who holds a current full season-ticket at any Barclaycard

Premiership, or Nationwide League Division 1, 2 or 3 club will be charged

half the full adult admission i.e. £4, upon presentation of their

season-ticket."

All good stuff, but it appears that those who get no reduction at all, are those that travel the length and breadth of the South-East every Saturday to loyally follow the Saints.

Only a minor criticism though. Good work to those involved, and perhaps next season, full admission can be reduced back to £7. Particularly as we'll be a level below.

Quick question about point c)...

The £12 ticket - does it have to be two adults and two children, or is it 'up to' two adults and two children?

ie. If I brought my wife and my nephew to a game, (2 adults/1 child) do I still qualify for the family ticket, or will I have to pay £19?

Similarly, what if I just brought my wife? (2 adults/0 children) The family ticket is £12 which would be cheaper than us both paying £8 each.

This discussion appears to have spread over two postings.

Firstly, I suspect that the Board recognise that additional efforts should be made to attract more people on matchdays for the 8 remaining home games of this season. A couple of those initiatives have been suggested on here in the past. Obviously, they listen! Well done to them.

Secondly, those who travel 'the length and breadth' of South-east England enjoy the warm and fuzzy feeling that comes with supporting The Mighty Saints. That should be reward enough. I assume that these initiatives, while open to 'existing' fans of course, are aimed at those who have not recently experienced, or who have yet to experience, that warm and fuzzy feeling.

I am a season-ticket holder and we have all received an invitation from The Chairman to the Boardroom after the Billericay Town match for drinks and light refreshments [no prawn sandwiches, no doubt]. There is talk of a light lunch with Steve Castle and the players before a home game before the end of the season.

I hope that these things are beihg widely publicised.

Sorry, should have clarifed that I read it as okay for 2 adults, one child.

Again as I see it, a combination of 2 adults and any number of children would not preclude the purchase of a family ticket. Just add on the extra cost depending on the age of the children. So a family, 2 adults, 2 children under 12 and 2 children aged 15 would buy one family ticket, £12, plus two concessions at £3. Total cost £18.

Same combination with only one child under 12, same cost £18.

Same combination with 3 children under 12 would only be cost of family ticket, £12, as additional under 12 would be free.

2 adults, two children over 12, definately not.

2 adults only, definately not.

Confussed ....I'm getting there

With the new initiatives in place, yes financially .....but I know what you mean.

If however these initiatives attract a considerable amount of interest that culminates in a crowd of 500 or more (no comments regarding pink things in the sky please .. lets try and remain positive) then I'm sure it will be justified from all points of view.

Your questions have been noted and as stated I will try to get a suitable answer from those that are in the know in good time for you to organise your extended family outing.

Failing that I'll buy you a beer or two on Saturday.

Sod it .. I'll buy you a beer or two anyway

Anyway I'm off home now, my head hurts from a lack of alcohol.
