Ground 700 was reached in quite some style. Baldock made the better start but St Panteleimon opened the scoring 12 minutes in. They got another on 24 mintues, then a penalty on 36 minutes. Baldock then pulled one back on 45+2 only for St Panteleimon to go down the other end and score a 4th before the half time whistle blew.
The second half was a totally different story for the majority of it. Baldock were by far the better team and reduced the deficit soon after the kickoff. St Panteleimon had a few threatening attacks, but Baldock continued to control the game and made it 3-4 on 78 minutes. It looked for all the world like they would get a 4th and complete a remarkable comeback, until the 89th minute when their number 5 fouled a St Panteleimon attacker outside the box and received a second yellow. This free kick was promptly converted (the keeper will not want to watch it back), and we thought that was that. The ref had other ideas.
Despite not a huge amount of stoppage during the game we were still playing 10 minutes later when Baldock won a second penalty. No luck this time as it was saved and 2 minutes later St Panteleimon made it 6-3. Still we kept playing and in the end there was 15 minutes of stoppage (minus 3 for an injury in stoppage time). Somewhat baffling timekeeping.
