v Havant & Waterlooville

Not sure how recent this signing but it seems they have a certain Ryan Seager in their ranks. Prolific - and expensive - goalscorer at Hungerford and Dorking and scored in their Trophy defeat at AFC Totton on Saturday.

I rarely say must-win but, but feel it applies here.

Paid a fee (undisclosed), the Steve King era doesn't come cheap either, expect more signings. They have another guy on loan from Kidderminster (used to be at Gloucester, where King was manager last season).

This will not be easy, they are not relegation material despite their position.

I think everyone is shocked that Havant are still bottom and quite adrift currently. Looking at their current squad it beggars belief as there are still some very good players there. So you can only look at the management of them? You can’t say they’re not relegation material because they’re bottom for a reason and very oddly their only win is against Yeovil!

They did lose a lot of players and perhaps it will take a bit of time for them to play as a team.

Hopefully not on Tuesday.

This has shades of last season at home vs Weymouth. They were bottom and (if memory serves me right) winless, despite an FA Cup run where they took AFC Wimbledon to a replay. They were a young and inexperienced side but organised and hard-working, and proceeded to play us off the park for a deserved 3-2 win.

I remember some comments on here after that match, which were along the lines of "Weymouth are too good to be where they are, they'll avoid relegation easily". I thought otherwise; I thought they were bottom for a reason, and would continue to struggle. Whilst they did avoid relegation, it was only on the final day on goal difference.

With all due respect to Havant, we really need to be winning games like this if we're serious about pulling away from danger.

We finally found a way, was thinking it was going to be one of those nights where we just couldn’t find that winner. Credit to their keeper who pulled off at least 2 goal bound efforts. We weren’t great but we kept going and luckily bundled in the winner with just minutes left. Vital win as it gives us a 3 point cushion.

Even Lenchy was shaking his head when announced as MOTM.

I would have picked Ogbonna or Sundire myself.

We certainly got away with one tonight! Neither side deserved to lose, yet neither deserved the win IMO. But it's results that matter.

The first-half was disjointed and error-strewn (much like the TV stream), with Goddard's strike being the only moment of real quality. Typically, we concede just before half-time.

As for the second-half, did it exist? Utterly turgid at home against the bottom team, who had appeared to settle for a draw for all the creativity and intent they showed. A couple of half-chances at the start, but very little from then on. The substitutions didn't seem to affect the game at all, with Ogbonna (who'd been the only one to look like making something happen) coming off, and Alexander being completely anonymous yet again. The match appeared to be petering out for a draw, which would have done neither side any good, but that was until the 92nd minute, when substitute Mickel Platt (I think) turned, got a shot in for debutant Steven Bala (in the right place at the right time) to poke home the rebound.

Thank heavens for that!

Agree with Nathan.

Bit of a shocker from us with some players unable to pass the ball over a few yards.

Luckily we were up against a side that couldn't even hit the target with just our keeper to beat.

Having said that these types of performances do happen and credit to the players for showing the character to stick at it and grind out a result.

Far bigger test lies ahead on Saturday.

We can’t play well every game, we’ve played better and lost.

We showed grit and determination to get a winner and to be honest they didn’t trouble Dan Lincoln really and their keeper was forced into numerous saves, we just about got what we deserved but I agree it was a game poor on quality, who cares though?

2 months ago we lose that game!
