Roger Davis

For those who haven't yet seen this sad news elsewhere, lifelong fan Roger Davis (who used to frequent this forum many years ago as Roger Rebel) sadly died on Wednesday.

His granddaughter has posted on Facebook this evening (unfortunately I can't put the post on here) his funeral service will be held at Slough crematorium on Friday 24th November at 3pm, followed by a wake at Slough Town Football Club.

My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

I remember three ages of Roger Rebel at STFC

The Grandad years at Wexham Park with his family and the bugle, part of the right side of the goal.

The Wilderness years at the Stag and Sycob rousing the Barmy Army to sponsor the legions of players wearing the amber and blue.

The Councillor years being one of the strongest voices behind the football ground in Slough campaign and the eventual return to Arbour Park.

He struggled to make games in recent years due to poor health but a massive part of our club.

Great guy, my uncle, RIP Roger.

Roger was a true Rebel, there through the bad homeless days, very instrumental in getting Arbour Park on the council agenda.

Having a few words with Roger was part of the social side of a game, his honest and down to earth views were always welcome.

It may well have been that we were both Toolmakers by trade, that helped us get on, but Roger would welcome anyone into the Barmy Army once he got their £5!

RIP

Thank you Nathan.

On the 25th November our family will be at the home game.

Hoping to bring yellow and blue paper to throw during a minutes applause and have Roger’s grandsons as mascots on the day.

I used to go to every game with grandad as did his son Chris.

Would be great to get the band back together and celebrate ‘the trumpet man’ ? If anyone can spread the message it would mean a lot to our family
