"and he tried to sweep the ball first time between the post and the keeper."

Thats his weakness - First touch!!

He can run fast onto a ball though he does loose fitness as the game progresses. He has aggression and arrogance but he has no first touch which is why he is often knocked off the ball as he receives it.

He should be practicing receiving the ball from his colleagues until he can do it in his sleep.

As far as the miss is concerned he was under no pressure the goalkeeper was not near him in that situation a decent striker should be able to force the goalkeeper to make a save. He had time to bring the ball under control with a good first touch and then shoot. And the angle was not tight it was a perfect cross at his feet. Look at the players who have gone to make way for him, Keke, Bradley and Ullatowski. The opposition know his game. They do not mark him tight so that he can beat them in a running race. They lay off so that they can exploit his weakness. He is not comfortable on the ball.

What other contribution did he make in the 45 minutes that he played?

It is my belief that a good player needs two things above all else. First touch and vision. Cooper has neither.

Speph....everyone's praised Francis about his performances in the last two games...but he also regularly lost possession when recieving the ball or trying to lay it off.

I don't mind fair criticism of players, but lets be consistent about it.

Yes, Cooper was very quiet when he came on against Waltham Abbey, but that must be weighed up against the great goals he's scored, such as that against Bowers last week.

mr s towner, our defence is solid, top 4 sides this season:

Romford managed 1, you were lucky to get 1, ilford did get 2 and concord 0 in 2 games.

although during my 6 week ban (had to get that in!) sawbo did get 7! we only had a few 1st team players avoilable that day and two 40+ players from the stiffs!

our defence is as good if not better than any! (bold statement!)

I watched Francis in training last night and I say if he can produce some of that form in a match he could still be top goal scorer for the town. I think it is between Bradley Brotherton and Stuart Snowden at the moment. Clarkee looked more hungry for a goal on Tuesday night.

I really want to see Ian Cooper succeed, otherwise he will always be living in the shadow of his brother (At Hertford Town), which would be a shame. He needs to apply himself to his weaknesses.

Complaining about the officials,Abbeyman....you'll be branded a bunch of whingers if you keep that up. <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Abbey had the better of the opening exchanges, and maybe deserved to sneak in at half-time 1-0 up instead of 0-1 down.

I thought Enfield Town controlled the second-half and fully deserved the narrow win....Abbey only threatening in the ten minutes of time-added.

Was the 'Birdman' there tonight,i didn't see him.

finally which one was 'pinnicle'...tell me it wasn't the Greg howell look-alike.

Yes, I was there and enjoyed almost every minute of it.

Despite my feelings of the impact of your forming which I will not go into here, I must say how well you have done in such a short space of time - you now play at a nice compact little ground.

I gave DF my best wishes to DF to pass on and also wanted to give my condulances to Luke's dad when I saw him in the boardroom but I couldn't bring myself to say anything. Being a dad myself I do know how he must be feeling. I don't think he actually knows me but could someone please pass the message on.

See you all Tuesday?
