do offside goals count then? if our players had continued after the whistle then we may of had 6 or 7 but our players know that once the whistle has blown the goal wont count (altogh i do recall a couple of times that happening and them sooting only for you gk to save, but you get my point) neil can you tell me 1 save our goalkeeper made?

I can tell you one he should have made!!!!!

 

I do recall him racing out to kick clear once or twice, but not making an actual save as such.

 

I can't remember our keeper making any saves from penalties though!!!!

 

You're right about the offsides, the whistle went well before the ball was put in the net. There was a time when you got booked for that.

not quite like chelsea! but i get your meaning. being a chelsea fan i cant have any non league teams being associated with the blues!

 

i think you really miss negus and the other wing back who went to ilford. they gave you another dimension. when we played you before those boys pinned our wing backs back but last night it was the other way round and our wide boys put in some danerous crosses and caused a lot of problems especially down our left.

I totally agree, Matt Negus and Dave Allen are terrific players and we miss them. However, young Lee Digby looks like a good prospect, he had a good first half last night I thought. He's only about 12 at the moment and is a different sort of player to Disco Dave, not so fast, but he shows a lot of promise for a nipper and I think he'll be an adequate replacement. All our other full/wing backs aren't really full backs, if you see what I mean.

 

I hope I'm not giving away any secrets before next Tuesday, but I'm pretty sure you've figured this out for yourself!

 

Right, I'm off to play 5 a-side now - at a considerably lower level than you, Pinnacle! I reckon I can control the ball further than you can kick it, as the man said. That's if I actually get to touch it.....

For next season ETFC really need to get a quality left footed player in.

 

I think 'the boy Digby' will make a good right-back....not sure about his credentials as a wing-back.

 

If negus is going to go off to uni again next season....we need to get a settled left-back in...when Negus plays,it should then be in midfield.

 

I'm also reserving judgement on Francis until i've seen more of him.

 

 

Talking of Del's 'only real attack-take' on the match.....may i point him in the direction of our second-half chances:

 

1.Clarke shooting over after beating three defenders.

 

2.Cove missing a header from five yards.

 

3.Clarke running clean through,then squaring it it to Cooper who somehow failed to connect with only the keeper to beat..

 

Surely we must have been attacking to create those chances....ditto,with Riley and Cove scoring whilst being off-side. <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

LS to be fair i forgot about the header, that really should of been a goal! clarke beating 3 defenders?? he didnt actually beat any, there was one running along side him to put him under enough pressure to shoot high and wide with his left foot (which our defender made sure he kept him on), a half chance i agree. i cant remember the cooper chance although he was very quiet!

No poison arrows from us mate, we are the same as everyone. We want to beat you and you want to beat us..after that drinks all round as far as I'm concerned. I personally know a lot of people at ETFC and am very good friends with them and have been for many years. It will continue! Not sure about the quiz night? It's a Friday is that right....well my stomach could not take the shock of not filling up with booze, smoke and whatever else wafts towards it down the Abbey on a Friday night..Sat maybe! I thought the darts would be a good idea, we could make it a Charity night for someone less fortunate than ourselves. We also get good relations between the clubs? Just a thought...

Jeez, didn't take long for people to get on his back again did it?
From my vantage point of six feet away, I saw Ian Cooper take an ambitious first time swipe at a driven cross from a tight angle which went slightly wrong and ended up going for a goal kick off his standing foot. If he'd hit the net we'd still be cheering now (it's Thursday!).
