interesting points there and I agree with them.....as to the issue with the 'riverside'.....well...we wanted to have the fans opinion in the official programme rather than in a seperate fanzine.....and still think its the right way forward given the openess of the clubs policies....

there will be no issue of censorship or changing the views because that would defeat the object.....

as I've already stated..I was a bit pissed (and pleased about the result)when I had a go about the article and perhaps shouldn't have done...nonetheless my views are as important as everyone elses and I dont think that any article coming from anyone at the club should critisise anyone but thats just my view and I understand that Andrew...who wrote the article.... was just expressing his....probably whilst still disappointed about a result....

the thing we all share regardless of our differing views is a passion for the club....regardless of those differing views.... that will always keep us together...

Have recently spoken to the person who did the article and she said it was misinterpreted. She was only giving her opinion on the recent matches and is a little dissapointed that she wasn't approached personally and told this article might cause offence rather than finding out through word of mouth on these forums.

Nevertheless it's provided interesting debate, so can't be all bad!

WHAT CAN I SAY??? What a great performance from the players, GB & not forgetting us fans who sang our hearts out last night.

I thought Ollie as captain was tremendous & led the team by example. Since westy has been out he has just grown in stature. Like Lord said in a previous post, Bertie could be a star. He linked up well with Vinny & also held the ball up & brought the midfielders into play. The whole team were superb& worked their socks off(well done lads)

Last but not least...US FANS!!!!!....Outnumbered by 20/1, took it on the chin in the 1st half, regrouped & came out guns blazing in the 2nd...Cant remember hearing them in the 2nd half apart from a few muffled crys of "cum on bowa" with 10mins to go, followed by a loud cry of [****!!****] OFF BURRA & none stop chanting of "GORGIE BORGS RED & WHITE ARMY" until the final whistle...

MY fav of the night had to be (to the tune of Tipparary)

"IT`S A LONG WAY BACK UP THE A1, IT`S A LONG WAY TO GO"

What a nice touch from GB & the players at the end as well.

well thats somewhat strange because I have already 'spoken' to andrew by PM who told me he wrote it.....either way ...regardless of who wrote it....its a mountain out of a molehill and you lot all sending PM's to each other won't change my views...no more than I sought to censor the article before it went to press....and yes I had seen it previously as I see all of them....I waited until the programme went out and then expressed my views.....

and just for the record YA...if someone writes an article without consulting others then they can hardly complain if something is written in reply without consultation...

I would also respectfully suggest that you and gazza sort your own problems out before embroiling yourself in urchin business....

your own clubs are hardly supporters of the open door policy that we have at Hx....I accept in your case gazza that things have changed but you can't write a fckin letter at canvey without getting kicked out...talk about kettles and pots...

also for the record...no one is offended...merely debating the riverside view....

aplogies...reading andrews PM again he doesn't actually say that he wrote the article but refers to writers...so my mistake...in any event...this doesn't want to become a dummy spitting issue...

comments were made in the 'riverside' and published uncensored...personally I think those comments were misguided....so did gary and george and the players......the views of the riverside should reflect all fans views and not just those of one person....if those comments were reflective of the fans generally...then so be it....

we will not change those views as they are put forward for publication but we also have the right to disagree with them...

after the view was published I made my own views known....thats really the end of it...

I wasn't "embroiling" myself in an Urchin problem, just putting a point of view accross in a discussion, which, as I have been told enough times when I "bite", is what a forum is for.

Can't see what was wrong with my view either, having been involved in the editing and production of various publications, it seemed to be the best way forward should there be content in an article that may be miss understood by some people. It's there for the "protection" of club and writer. You don't have to change a view or content but maybe suggest another angle to get the best out of the "read".

As it was, I thought the programme was an improvement on the old one. Keep on going and it'll be as good as Chelmsford's, which is really a good read.

I think some people want success right away and all the time (perhaps they're Man U fans!)and don't appreciate it's not as easy as that.

That said I think it was just a bit of dissapointment following what was (it has to be said) a poor result. We all support GB and the players but opinion and comment make football (even more) interesting.

Please don't forget how far this club has come in 2/3 years.

Just sticking up for a friend Unc, not trying to diss the Urchins.

I don't like to see anybody get given a hard time because their opinions are different to those of other supporters.

Your entitled to your view and the writer of the article is entitled to theirs. Its what makes football so interesting.

As for Canvey I don't deny that. Some mates of mine were banned over some criticism of a team performance and that still upsets me to this day. Maybe that's why I've been a bit opinionated over this. I don't want to see the same thing happening again.

Good luck in the Trophy, hope to see you at the Stadium very soon.

Needless to say 'the sheep' is very angry at the moment!

why angry YA.....I thought the general consensus on here was that we are all entitled to an opinion on footie matters...to quote you

''thats what makes football so enjoyable''

if a person gets angry because their opinions are questioned.....well...sounds like a 'reverse' form of censorship to me... <img src="/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />

another YA quote

''not interfering unc...just sticking up for a friend''

thought the whole idea of a debate was to express an opinion...not take sides....
