Just listened to the post match interview which as usual was a good, honest view of the game from Scott.

Just to add my uneducated tuppence worth:

If a striker is banging in goals you don't leave him out.

If a defence is rock solid and not conceding goals why change it unless you have no other choice.

But what do I know.

What are your points regarding the striker and the defence???

Confused by what point you are making.

To me, last night’s opening 20 minutes is not the norm from this team.

It was not the normal for us recently, but nonetheless it was where the damage was done and where the game was lost.

My only concern (and I know, don't worry Mr Mainmaring ...), is that we don't get cut adrift.

We are in a position where winning our next game may not take us out of the drop zone (albeit we have a game in hand), and will only on goal difference if it does. The position is far from insurmountable, but let's not be lulled into a sense that because it's only October there's no need to worry.

I just find it so frustrating that we can play so well in that first half home to Ebbsfleet and then put in a complete opposite display in the first half last night! It shows we have the players/skill to compete with the best this division has to offer but we’re obviously not consistent enough. Yes it’s still early in the season but we could be 6 points adrift if we lose on Saturday so for me it’s certainly a don’t lose match but one we really have to be looking to win.

A rock solid defence? I dont think so. We have let in 23 goals in the league, the third worst of all teams in the league.

And which striker is banging in goals? Certainly no one is the last three games.

Scott acknowledged that our strikers need to start banging in the goals, he is not blind to it.

The defence, I think needs to be looked at with a wider lense:

Rebels without Temi and Dan in tandem

W 0 D 1 L 4 F 7 A 15

Rebels with them in tandem

W 6 D 4 L 3 F 20 A 10

In other words, our defence has been pretty solid since Temi and Dan have settled back in together at the heart of it. In 5 games without them, we leaked on average 3 a game. In 13 games with them, it’s 0.77 a game. I’d say that unit has greatly improved and is pretty rock solid now.

The bit about not dropping a striker banging in goals obviously doesn't apply to us at this moment but just an example of something you wouldn't do.

As for a rock solid defence, with Temi, Bayliss and Scott forming our central defensive unit and before St Albans we've let in 5 goals in our last 10 games which I would call pretty rock solid.

Highlights of the game.

I think it's fair to say that their first two goals came from some very poor defensive play from us.

After watching these highlights I now agree that our defence is "rock solid": like statues
