I picked my tickets up from the club last night and the Stoke Road from Stoke Green to Arbour was closed……. hopefully this is a very temporary or only night time closure. If not, it could cause some traffic chaos on Sunday.

I use that road several times a week usually and its arguably the worst kept road on the planet, I've seen tracks in the Himalayas in better condition.

A sign went up about ten days ago informing of road works so I'm hoping its all being re done finally, I'll go that way in the next day or two and see what's happening and post on here.

Is it a 15 minute walk to the ground from the train station? I think it’s about £6 to park at Slough Station on a Sunday (can be pre-booked or paid for on the APCOA app).

And did you mean Tesco let you park free for 3 hours? Go careful if anybody does this, I think you need a Tesco receipt of over £5 as proof of a purchase, and the store closes at 4pm on a Sunday. Either a £40 or £60 fine otherwise.

The Queensmere parking looks to be £2 all day on a Sunday (10.30am to 5.30pm) if you want cheaper, but about a mile, 20 minute stroll from the ground.

I would have thought the club would do a better review of this than me over the next couple of days & presumably charge a minimum of £6 (and probably closer to £10) for the convenience of parking at the ground.

And wouldn’t we expect the vast majority of Grimsby fans to either travel by coach or train….. I’m sure those driving to matches don’t get priority parking when they go to away league matches.

Curtis yeah I meant Tesco.s

Referee announced today as Ben Atkinson.

He was in charge for Scott's first game as manager,  1-5 home to Eastbourne last year...

There is now an away day guide on the Grimsby site for their supporters.

It looks like their supporters have been given the seated East Stand and part or all of the covered South Stand.

Their supporters will use turnstile 3 that leads to St Josephs and parking at St Josephs on a first come first serve basis.

I’m surprised Grimsby have been given the whole Berkeley Homes Community stand as I thought they’d be strong demand for seats from home fans plus the club will be entertaining alot of sponsors and guests. I just hope they’ve not been given the whole Town End stand as we need to try and keep any little advantage by having home support behind both goals.

I suppose if we're going to have segregation it would be virtually impossible not to give them all the East Stand.

Looks like they've the whole of the Community Stand and the South Terrace, coming in via St. Joseph's so I don't know if that's completely off limits to us now on the day?

The Mariners return to action in the Emirates FA Cup this weekend with a trip to Arbour Park with National League South side Slough Town our opponents. For supporters making the trip, you can find all the important information in our Away Day Guide…

What colour kit will the team be wearing?

We will be in our red away kit for this weekend’s match.

What’s the ticket information?

At the time of writing, there are limited numbers of tickets remaining and these will be available until 3pm on Friday, unless they are sold out beforehand.

Any supporters who are yet to collect tickets that they have bought must do so before 3pm on Friday as they will not be available to collect from Arbour Park on the day.

Please note that the 200 seats within our allocation are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please be mindful of others who can’t stand for ninety minutes when opting to use the seating area.

How do I get to the ground?

The postcode for the ground is SL2 5AY. Exit the M25 at junction 16 for the M40 to Uxbridge/London (West). Exit the M40 at junction 1, following signs for Slough. At the roundabout take the exit for A412. Continue over the next two roundabouts until you reach the Five Points roundabout. Take the 3rd exit onto A412 Uxbridge Road. Continue through the set of traffic lights at the next set turn right onto Church Lane. Continue over two roundabouts, passing the Golf Club and Slough Cemetery on your right. Continue over the mini roundabout and the entrance to Arbour Park will be on your left.

What stand are we in?

Covered seating is in the East Stand, with standing following around the corner into the South Stand. Standing in the South Stand is covered but please be aware that there is a section between both stands that is uncovered.

What time do the turnstiles open?

Turnstiles will open 11.30am. Away fans should use turnstile 3. This is adjacent to St Joseph’s School on Shaggy Calf Lane (SL2 5HW).

Where is the best place to park?

The car park at the ground does not have fan parking. Spaces are available on a first come first basis at St Joseph’s Catholic High School (SL2 5HN). There are several car parks within walking distance in the town centre. If you choose to park in residential streets, please keep an eye on restrictions.

Is there any disabled parking?

A very limited number of spaces are available at the ground for those with blue badges. You should contact the Club in advance if you require a space – gensec@sloughtownfc.net.

What is the nearest train station to the stadium and what is the approximate distance and walking time?

The nearest station is Slough – this is around a fifteen-minute walk from the stadium. This is on the mainline to London Paddington and now served by the Elizabeth Line on the London Underground network.

Recommended pubs for away fans?

There are plenty to choose from in the town centre including Wetherspoons. The Red Lion, Stoke Green, is North of the stadium although a fair walk away.

Food available in the area?

There are plenty of chain and independent outlets in the town centre, which is around a fifteen-minute walk from the ground.

Where is the nearest cash machine to the Stadium?

The nearest free-to-use cash machine is at the fuel station on Stoke Poges Lane (SL1 3NJ) Tesco on Grassmere Parade (SL2 5HZ). There are plenty of cash machines if you’re in the town centre before the game.

What food and drink is available in the concourse at the stadium?

Slough have created a temporary fan zone outside of turnstile 3. This will have a bar, tea bar, burger van and toilets. The bar will be within a marquee, should the British weather decide rain is in order. The bar will close at 1.45pm with no further sales of alcohol available. Soft and hot drinks will be available throughout. Both cash and card will be accepted.

Is there a programme?

A printed programme is available, costing £3.00. These can be purchased at the turnstile.

What’s the policy on flags?

Flags are welcome but must not be placed over advertising hoardings.

We’re looking forward to seeing our supporters joining us in Slough as we kick off our Emirates FA Cup campaign!

some background
it's a sell out on Sunday. This is possibly their biggest game for a generation having been nomads for years.
They are one of the smallest clubs in conference south, average crowds under 1000 and a part time club in a sea of professional teams,
Scott Davies the player manager is still a very good player and very intelligent young coach (ex Aylesbury Grammar School). Some of you may remember him from when he scored a penalty against us at Aldershot and milked it to the full. Was destined for big things before his weaknesses took hold. takes a sublime free kick. Tells me the has no injuries and has a plan! very good battling side - a team whose sum is greater than their parts.
Aylesbury United have a big interest in Sunday's game. Scott is Aylesbury born and bred and he has a local legend,Jefferson Louis, as fitness coach. Jefferson is as fit as a flea and has had as many clubs as he has had birthdays!
Jeanmal Prosper may feature - was playing step 5 about 6 seasons ago until Ben Williams at AUFC spotted him. Made a transformational change to a struggling team and has kicked on since then, will enjoy seeing him again - the only right back I've seen who only rarely popped up at right back, so busy was he marauding elsewhere! his wife worked for my wife n they've just had their first baby
Tom McElroy may feature from the bench -ex AGS & Loughborough Uni, son of a surgeon.very young but very strong forward who has an eye for the goals and was a stand out player for Aylesbury.
Had a loan keeper from Arsenal but binned him after 3 days due to poor attitude. Lutrhra is completely different - young, but huge n v. competent.
Josh Jackman is your archetypal lower league defender and club captain. Been with them for years and a massive presence.
They've got  a couple of midfielders in Jackson n Lench who should possibly be playing higher, but are well paid n happy with their lot.Jackson in particular is a quality operator. Along with Scott it makes up a v. strong midfield.
George Alexander up front is on loan from our favourite hate club - Bromley. Also up front is nathan Minhas who's had a perpatetic career until 3 years ago. Seemed to then grasp the opportunity and scored 50+ goals in 2 seasons at a level below (step 3) for Beaconsfield

their ace in the pack is David Ogbonna, v.v. quick, skillful right winger . had played at step 4 for several years where he was the outstanding player for Hertford, but just seemed happy playing with his mates. He ripped Aylesbury, and a number of other Southern League clubs to shreds, last season. Somehow Scott managed to persuade him to go for it and he's prospered. there's some youtube videos of his extravagant pace n skills. He could easily rip Amos to shreds if he's on his game.really good player
I hope to be able to report more after our meal on Saturday night but mums the word till then!

The above was written by a Grimsby fan on their Forum.

Seems a quite respectful and fairly knowledgeable (in parts) breakdown of our team, although does anybody know who this "Jackson" fella is who is apparently one of our best players ?
