With 2000 in AP, you’ll struggle to see anything… Terracing is to shallow, bloody awful… Needs further terracing down the sides as well!

2000 should be fine as both seated stands hold around 550. Both behind the goal stands hold 1850 so that’s 2400 without anyone standing on the sides. Take away a few from each end stand plus for segregation then the viewing should be ok.

Get there early and get a good viewing place is my advice.

It wasn't on Saturday RR.

At least not the side that I normally use.

Luckily I wasn't too late getting there so I was able to park in one of the few remaining spaces on the other side which faces the stadium.

My usual side ( the side furthest from the stadium ) was all locked up and gated shut.

Would there be a reason why it's not open for a match where parking will be an issue?

On a different tack, greybeards will know that one of Grimsby's most celebrated players, Ron Rafferty (145 goals in 264 games for them), came from a local footballing family closely connected to the old Slough Centre FC. All the records show him as starting out at Wycombe in 1954, from where he is shown to have moved to Portsmouth and then on to Blundell Park. But our archive shows a "Ron Rafferty" scoring five goals in five games for the Rebels in 1955. Could it have been the same player, maybe guesting for us during National Service?

I guess it was THE Ron Rafferty, his brother used to live 2 doors from us on Wexham Court. I also have a Chelsea v Grimsby programme (somewhere) signed by the whole Grimsby team.

Just gone onto the club's website to check the ticket  selling page for the Grimsby match and it says they have sold out.

( There's a link to click on to join a waiting list. )

Good to hear as I was concerned we may struggle to sell our 1,500.

It's very pleasing to see that all our 1500 ticket allocation has been sold for the Grimsby cup tie.

Hopefully they have all gone to Slough fans, and no Grimsby fans bought any in our ticket sales window.

The fact that our online ticket sales started at 9am Monday morning, and went on for at least a few days until I saw the "sold out" messages on Thursday afternoon, suggests to me that anyone who regards themselves as any sort of a Slough Town fan was able to buy a ticket for the match.

If you didn't buy a ticket after the length of time that  they were available for such a big game for the club, I don't think you can have any legitimate complaints.

After today's game the Grimsby management team have gone.  Good or bad for us?

I would say 50% chance we get a result (a win or a draw) & 50% chance we lose…. and I don’t think a club at our level will ever get a better chance than this against Football League opposition.

The worst result we could get is a draw.

I don't understand this attitude. I'd love a draw (but then I do live in Lincolnshire!).

Personally I'm not fussed about the result, but just want to enjoy the day and see where that takes us. An FA Cup run, though wonderful (and in our case, overdue) is a bonus, as is any sort of result on Sunday. I'm far more concerned about improving our league position. I'd hate to look back on this season and remember the cup run, but rue relegation.

A bit contradictory if I may say so Nathan.

You want any result on Sunday even a draw but you're far more concerned about improving our league position and would hate to look back on this season and only remember a cup run but would rue relegation.

I would suggest a draw and having to go up to Grimsby on a Tuesday would not enhance our chances of getting away from the relegation zone.

I say all or nothing, win or lose.

I would expect a replay would earn the club about £40k in shared gate revenue & TV funds…… what could that get the club in terms of potentially strengthening the squad even further?

And there would still be an outside chance of winning the replay, picking up the £40k prize money & a lucrative second round match.

Absolutely not the worst result.
