It's the morning after the night before.
( Well, afternoon before to be precise).
These are the thoughts of this particular Rebels fan.
I thought everyone connected to Slough Town were magnificent yesterday.
To my eyes all the arrangements and planning for the day went smoothly.
So much work must have been put in by those behind the scenes to make this happen, and they should all be very proud of themselves this morning.
It was great to see so many people packed behind the goals.
Was a fantastic sight both watching there at the ground and for those watching the highlights  on tv.
Loved the massive banners behind the goals too.
Arbour Park looked a proper football ground !
I wasn't able to watch the match from my usual position, as that was given to the Grimsby fans, so I had to find another area to view the game.
As I was in the ground fairly early, I chose a seat in the main stand.
I found out that you get a great view from there !
When I heard the team announced over the tannoy, I have to say I felt a bit disappointed that we were playing with only George up front.
I'm never a fan of this formation, but I  thought I could understand Scotty's reason's for doing so.
The bugler before the kick off was class.
Note perfect.
I read somewhere that he had done the same at the Fulham v Man U game previously.
I don't know if that was true but it wouldn't surprise me as he was that good.
But why only 15 seconds silence after the Last Post ?
Must be a reason I guess, a reason which escapes me.
The game kicked off, and for the first 10 minutes my fears about the formation seemed apt.
I thought we let Grimsby dictate play and we were very passive.
There was then a crunching block tackle by Tyrese right in front of me, and a couple of Slough attacks, which changed the tone of the game, and proved once again Scotty knows a bit more about football tactics than I do.
When I left home for the match, I just hoped that when the final whistle blew, win, lose or draw, we had had a go at Grimsby.
When the game ended, I was proud of my team because we had.
Every player put a mighty shift in.
A replay was the least we deserved.
And we scored !
Celebrating that goal, with so many cheering fans behind the goal was bloody awesome !
It was pleasing to see old familiar faces in the crowd, such as Dobbo, Jamie Jackson, John Porter and Steve Easterbrook.
I'd like to think Bakes' and Unders' were there somewhere too.
So to the replay.
I would hope after yesterday's 90 minutes  that the players realise that Grimsby Town are not to be feared.
Respected of course, as they are full-time pro's ,but not to be in awe of them.
Another match in this magical cup competition, much to Reading Rebels displeasure.
( Sorry about that Reading Rebel !  Only joshing.)
There was only one thing that spoilt yesterday for me.
Getting home and realising that the BBC had given an over-excited 11 year old boy the mic to commentate on the game.
They could at least have waited until his voice had broken before giving him that role.
Oh to have had the classic sound of BBC legend David Coleman saying his famous ONE NIL ! as Scotty's shot hit the back of the Grimsby net.
Overall though,a fantastic day to be a Rebels fan.

He did do United v Fulham on Saturday, I bumped into Andy Mitten who I know from my days of following United everywhere and he confirmed he was at Craven Cottage the day before.

Just wanted to say how proud I was of everything and everyone connected with the club for all that took place yesterday especially all the volunteers and so on.

Can't fault any of the organisation at all, seemed spot on which is never easy when its not been done for a while and will certainly stand us in good stead for when Yeovil visit, I've been told the club need to have segregation for their visit.

As I mentioned just now, I bumped into Andy Mitten at about 12.30pm pitch side who had never been to Arbour Park before, he does a mass of media stuff these days mainly around United and didn't know a lot about Slough and he was impressed by the way it all looked and was put together and had a really good community club feel about the place.

I think the two new banners are excellent and really give the place a bit of a homely feel, certainly better than without them any way so long may things like that continue moving forward hopefully.

A big ask both on and off the pitch up in Cleethorpes but lets hope a few can make the trip up next Tuesday and get behind the boys.

Well done all, 'Served with Honour'

Enjoyed your post up until the end. Fair enough not to rate a particular commentator but I thought we’d moved on from such comments or attitudes.

Also I thought the clapping started immediately the Bugler stopped with no 15 seconds of silence but I could be wrong on that.

I thought there was supposed to be 15 seconds of silence once the bugler finished & then the referee would blow his whistle, but the referee blew his whistle almost as soon as the bugler had finished at which point everybody started clapping.

You’ll see a very short clip of the clapping not starting until after the referees whistle at the beginning of the BBC coverage when they mention Armistice Day.

I can explain the one up front quite easily, I think…

Usually I like to take the handbrake off and go for the game, be brave in the decisions that we make. However, yesterday against a team from two leagues higher, I didn’t wanna be trailing by two goals again like we have done in our previous two matches.

The game could’ve been over before it bad even started. Playing another one up top would’ve meant one less at the back or in midfield, and I didn’t want to risk it. Wanted to be solid and grow into the game which we sure did.

The plan almost worked a treat but wasn’t to be. Rest assured the handbrake at Grimsby will be off!

Extremely proud of the boys yesterday.

From seeing their interim managers post match interviewed, definitely had them rattled, but can see his confidence in them playing at home.

As mentioned above, we have two BIG games before the replay coming up.

Staying in the league has to be our priority (going down will set us back a few years imho).

Which is why I ask,  unless rewarding financially to us as a club, is a replay is not what we wanted.

Do we get any cut of gate money or does that go to home side only?

I ask, as if not and if the game is not on tele, are we going to be out of pocket by time the replay is over, due to travelling costs etc.... with no additional financial reward (if, we get knocked out on the night)?

Now, if the game is chosen for TV, then sure, happy days :)

We get 45% of the gate money and any money from any tv coverage.

Just to clear up on the last post/ minute silence debate. Sometimes when we’ve done the last post before people clap straight after it finishes, other times we would just do a minute or 2 minutes silence. After speaking with both the referee and tv production crew, it was decided that the last post and a minute’s silence was too long and hence we agreed what was announced.
We all know what referees time keeping skills are like 😂
