17.41 - St Albans to Luton Airport Parkway (12 mins)

18.10 - Luton Airport to Kettering (33 mins)

18.43 - arrive in Kettering

 

This is the last train that will get us there in time for kick off.

 

Coming home...

 

22.25 - Kettering to Luton (41 mins)

23.38 - Luton to St Albans (14 mins)

 

According to the www.rail.co.uk, this is the only train back after the game.

 

Who's coming with us, then!!?

Driving. The thought of walking 20 minutes each way to the ground then not getting back till late rather put me off.

If you're a quick mover you can get the 21:54 back from Kettering but you still have to wait 40 mins at Luton for a train to St Albans.

Might try and get that 21.54, actually. Will probably leave the ground about quarter past nine when their fifth flies in.

 

That 40 minute wait is going to be a pain in the [****!!****], though. I thought the trains back from Luton were more regular than that. I might just do a timetable search on trains from Luton to St A.

That 21.54 Kettering train gets into Luton at 22.33, and there is, in fact, a train from Luton to St Albans departing at 22.38.

 

Let's hope there are no delays!!

Yes, www.rail.co.uk don't seem to consider 5 minutes difference as a connection, probably very wise.

 

The Kettering ground is about 1 mile from the station apparently, turn left on leaving the station and after crossing three roundabouts you will see the ground on your right, the floodlihts are visible from some distance away though.

Floodlights that are in the shape of a 'K' I think (the bulbs that is, not the pylons), a legacy of Ron Atkinson.....

LOL!! Lets hope there are no delays then, coz at that time of night, being in Luton is very scary!!!

Anyway, if there are delays, you can always go the the Beefeater pub which is about 5 minute walk from the station.
