I noticed that the Non League paper are showing the St Panteleimon v Wembley Middlesex FA Senior Challenge Cup First Round tie taking place this evening (Tuesday 10 October), it is actually next Wednesday evening (18 October), kick off 7.45pm. A schoolboy error as Karen always used to say.

This was a highly competitive game but with few shots on target and only glimpses of why St Panteleimon are top of the table.
The visitors took their time to get going as promising moves were constantly breaking down through poor passes or good interceptions. Their defence looked very composed, but appeared to come unstuck after 12 minutes when they twice failed to clear the ball and Leverstock Green put the ball in the net, only to be ruled offside. The hosts were competing well, but gradually the visitors were moving up the gears and hit top speed on 37 minutes when a cross was chested down and the ball was thumped against the post. A couple of minutes later a tremendous shot from range forced an excellent save from the Levvy keeper.
It looked only a matter of time before the visitors would take the lead, but the home side started the second half strongly and this set the tone for the rest of the game. The two teams took it in turns to get forward, but good defending meant that we were starved of goalmouth action and, in fact, I can't remember a shot on target. A last gasp chance for Leverstock Green came when they broke out from a sustained siege on their penalty area and forced a last ditch foul by the visiting keeper. He only received a yellow card and the freekick came to nothing, but as the final whistle blew it was Leverstock Green who had fought their way to a fourth point against St Panteleimon this season.
