A reminder of the two SSML Division Two Cup Semi Finals taking place on Saturday week, 27 April, both kick off at 3.00pm. It is looking like an AFC Welwyn v Old Bradwell United Final 'on paper' isn't it.

A very much in form Bovingdon, seven wins from their last nine League games, and Old Bradwell United drew 1-1 in a Division Two fixture at Green Lane back in August so let's see what tomorrow afternoon brings:

This will be an interesting affair won't it, how do we feel about £8 entry albeit including a burger, a drink and match programme:

A groundhopper from another Forum was in attendance at Rowley Lane yesterday (Wednesday 8 May) to witness AFC Welwyn lifting the Division Two Cup following an exciting encounter between the top two Club's in the Division:

SSML Division Two Cup Final
Bovingdon v AFC Welwyn 2-3 (ht 0-3)
Venue: Maccabi London Sports Ground, Rowley Lane, Arkley; (ko 1945hrs)
Entry: £8/4, free (printed) programme. Attendance: h/c 206
This was an excellent game that saw champions AFC Welwyn complete the divisional double. And despite the halftime score this was a very even match between the top two teams. Welwyn's more direct style seemed to be prevailing when Kendall Ata Gyamfi scored a quick brace on 12 and 16 minutes. Firstly he held off a challenge on the edge of the box before turning and firing into the bottom left corner of the net. Four minutes later he was free to charge into the box and find the same spot, this time using the outside of his boot. Bovingdon continued with their attractive style of football and created some good chances but fell further behind just before the break when a long ball to the left wing allowed Will McNeill to demonstrate excellent control before firing in from a tight angle.
A minute after the break, Welwyn had the ball in the net again but this was ruled offside. Fortunately, Bovingdon continued to play their own game and pulled one back on the hour when pressure resulted in a cross that was slid in at the far post. Bovingdon continued to press and scored again on 69 minutes when a cross was headed home. Chances continued to present themselves at both ends but Welwyn finished strongly and held out for the win.
Having been formed, as a separate entity, from Welwyn Garden City's Development team in the summer they couldn't have asked for a more successful first season. It now means that they have something to put in the Club History section of future programmes. And, of course, it will all be available on social media courtesy of forum lurker JamesK and his media team who were out in force on the night.
