v Salisbury (FA Cup 3rd Qualifying Round)

I played two Waitrose matches there years ago, I'm sure at the time it only had three proper sides to it.

The main stand side and the two ends, the far side as you came out the tunnel was a hill with nothing there.

Guess I'll see tomorrow.

It now has 2 small seated stands with a scoreboard in the middle. Looks like they have 1 decent covered terrace with the opposite end open (can’t tell if there’s any terracing or it’s just flat standing). Hoping we can take around 200 tomorrow.

Yes, it was a pretty poor performance yesterday, but.....................................................................

If you had said to me when I was walking out of Arbour Park at the start of September after that dismal 5-2 defeat against Tonbridge, that we would go the next month ( and counting ) unbeaten  with 3 wins and 2 draws, I would have found it very hard to believe you.

It has happened though, and even though we didn't play that well yesterday we didn't lose.

It's never good when your goalie is by far your team's man of the match, but in my view Rohan needed a game like yesterday.

He was able to show us how good he can be, and he was very good yesterday.

That performance should  give him a massive boost of confidence, which we hopefully will see the results of in  games to come.

Ollie Bayliss on his twitter page says the 4th Qualifying Round draw in on Talksport2 tomorrow at 3pm.

That probably means it will start at 3.30 !

I've been thinking.

( I have too much time on my hands that's the trouble !)

I hope it isn't  belittling any players in the team to say that we miss George Alexander when he isn't present.

If, and I say IF cos I'm for sure not taking that for granted, we beat Salisbury on Tuesday and get into the 4th Qualy Rd, if we were to draw our match and Bromley got knocked out of the FA Cup first time of asking, couldn't we have George back for any possible 4th Qualy replay ?

Yeah, I know.

Lots of if's , but's and maybe's there but I try to think positively !

First of all obviously on to Tuesday.

It's not going to be easy but I know we can do it.

( I might not have said that straight after the Tonbridge match ! )

First half was a relatively even affair except for chances created.

Salisbury had a couple of really good opportunities to score that they should have put away and by comparison we had none on target and only one attempt that ended up down the high street.

As the second half wore on it became one way traffic with only the numerous saves from Rohan that saved us from a real pasting and FA Cup exit.

Difficult to put a finger on why we were made to look so slow and pedestrian compared to an energetic Salisbury side.

Just a couple of observations I felt watching the game yesterday.

The pitch seemed very narrow.

I thought it could have been widened as there seemed to be a couple of yards of extra turf on the far side opposite the main stand, but perhaps Salisbury's manager prefers the pitch this way ?

I also thought the pitch seemed a bit "stodgy".

By that I mean it looked like the ball didn't exactly "ping" along the ground like it does on the 4g at Arbour Park, making running with the ball not that easy.

Could be that Salisbury are obviously used to this and we are not, or it could just be that I'm talking my usual rubbish !

Agree.

I was going to mention the pitch which looked ok from a distance but was more like a soggy sponge.

Just a point of detail, Arbour Park’s pitch isn’t 4G, it’s 3G.

I thought they did exist but apparently there is no such thing as a 4G or 5G football pitch.

They don't officially, its simply a label for modern 3Gs that people like to tag on them, they're basically just the latest version and standard of 3G where technology moves on so to speak.

I've got one I look after and when I was last talking to the FA 3G Register guy he says it does his head in, they are all 3Gs in the FA/UEFA and FIFA eyes.
