Great win yesterday, in what on paper looked a very tricky tie against well known local adversaries.

Where's the Scott Davies boo boys now - who wanted him sacked three games ago?

I noticed Josh Jackman wasn't playing against H and Y. Is he just missing for one game? Who played at right back yesterday?  What was our formation? I didn't make the game hence the questions. Can anyone oblige please?

Josh was at his sisters wedding.

Has Dan Bayliss  done something wrong to be just referred to as "Bayliss" ?

Everyone else is called by their first name or "nickname".

I hope he isn't the sensitive type.

Just stands out a mile to me.

I have no idea why but I don’t think anyone has ever called him Dan… 😂

Don’t worry he’s not sensitive at all. Everyone’s got nicknames to be honest.

I can't imagine Dan running off to his "safe space" because he's upset about not being called by a chummy name.

I'm  sure in previous after match interviews whenever Dan is mentioned it's always "Bayliss".

Just seems very informal.

Anyway, very solid performance yesterday.

Could and should have won by more than 2-0.

Three  consecutive wins, two consecutive clean sheets.

They should be a massive confidence boost.

Agreed in that if we'd lost the game this forum would have had supporters or 'boo boys' as you've called them whinging that we're out of the cup.

Make no mistake this was a tricky tie and an important win for the club and so far we've had just three comments on the game itself and only one giving just praise to the team for not dropping their standards, winning the game and getting through to the next round.

I wasn’t able to get to this match, I’m pleased we won, but hadn’t commented so far because the result was what I, and I think most others would have expected against a mid table side a level below us.

The key to reasonably successful cup runs is generally not to get beaten by any club from a lower level, and hope for some luck in the draw & home fixtures.

There's no such thing as an easy draw. Need I remind people about Erith, Ardley or Whitehawk?

it's a hard lesson best learnt early. Fortunately I was away on a field course when the (generally speaking) all conquering Slough side of 1964/65 were beaten in the the Amateur Cup at Chalfont St Peter.

That team looks an exciting line up. Glad Leon and David had a run out.

It was good Nathan got two goals under his belt as that should help his confidence grow now he is a Slough player, the caveat being that we know he can bang in goals against teams in the division below but he is going to need to do it on a regular basis in the National South [which is a hell of a lot harder].

I feel he will need a period of adjustment in our Slough team to truly see the merits of him. To me he needs a season with Slough before we can really judge how good he is. It hasn't been a easy start for him at the Rebels and with George Alexander's arrival he has had to play second fiddle to him but in some ways that could help him 'settle in' to our side, as the onus isn't solely on Nathan to be our main talisman up front. Nathan has shown glimpses of what his game is all about and I'm hoping by the end of George's loan in January Nathan has nailed down his starting place in the first eleven, as Slough will need him 'firing' by then. Nathan's signing reminds me of when Bakes and Unders signed Charlie Moone. A weight of expectation comes on to the shoulders of a well known striker but it is not always helpful in fitting in to a new team.

Harrogate Railway comes to mind when Slough got beaten at home in the FA Cup back in the Conference years.

Wroxham away springs to mind or was that the Trophy?

Hopefully you're right but time will tell.

I like the way Tom McElroy plays.

He's quick and mobile and gets stuck in even if he's up against a 6ft+ giant.

Erm, I was there Dave! Fortunately it's so long ago..... suffice to say it was an agonising watch. Come to think of it every game against them since at Chalfont has been of a similar ilk!!

That was 2002, after we were kicked out of the Conference, but you are right. Harrogate Railway Athletic is a prime example. I'd also add Hanworth Villa, Wroxham and Tonbridge Angels to the list of "easy" ties we've lost in the FA Cup since I've been following STFC.

My apologies I mistakenly thought we were a conference side then. I do remember watching it,though. It was at Wexham Park and felt like a giant-killing at the time and the Rebels being the giant.

Just looked on the Slough website and saw our team that day.Among the Slough notables were Gary McCann in goal, Dean Palmer and Anthony Howard in defence, Paul Barrowcliff and Ryan Spencer in midfield and Sammy Winston and Tony Boot upfront. Was Steve Browne our manager then?
