I've just got back from the game and it's fair to say that results are not going our way. What i will say though is that I know every player in our squad is good enough to turn this around, I for one will be going to every game knowing we are good enough to do this and I will keep cheering the rebels on.

on a footnote to today's game, officials are always going on about respecting officials which I totally agree with but when I hear the assistant referee on the opposite side to the main stand (who was right in front of me) turn around and tell one of our supporters the right honourable Reading Rebel to go forth and multiply ( I will not go down to his level and say what he said ) then any respect goes out of the window. Showing respect goes both ways.

Anyway onto Saturdays game.

Thanks for the support John.

I'm not sure what I said to him to deserve him using the foul language but I'm sure there was no swearing involved from my side.

First half we had a few good chances we didn’t take BUT 2nd half we were very poor!!

Yet another formation change today, we’re not Man City, the league table doesn’t lie even this early if I’m being honest, we will not be pushing towards the play offs this season.

Not sure pushing for the play-offs is on any ones mind at this precise moment.

I am referring to the target our management team spoke about in the press.

I was stood next to Reading Rebel in the second half, and one of our idiot supporters was constantly on the linesmans case taking the

piss out of his haircut. This guy is a regular Slough  supporter (dont know his name) but i think he is from the West Country originally

but is very loud and a total prick. So as you say respect goes both ways.

I think I'll have to disagree that at this stage of the season 'the league table doesn't lie'.

We are 6 games into the season and I think most supporters who were at those games would agree that in at least 4 of them we were at the very least their equals and should have some more points on the board which of course would put us further up the table.

Give it to say Xmas time and I would agree that the table won't lie.

No problem with a quick joke about a linos haircut but agree with what you say WR this was taken to another level and way beyond a joke.

It's not showing on the match report stats but I'm sure Johnny Goddard picked up a yellow card.

If we want to get out of this mess, that is one player who should not be starting!

Yes, we were equals but that is no good if we are losing RR, it’s just making excuses.

I hear a lot of should and could!

Hair gate happened after the Reading Rebel incident and you are correct no swearing was aimed at the assistant.

more importantly just seen the after match interview and have to say that Scott has performed nothing short of  miracle since being in charge and results will turn as I have said we are good enough and we have a great manager in charge. Keep believing

I agree, RR. It's too early to panic about the results. If Slough were being thrashed by other sides then things would need changing but at this current time Slough's not getting a lot of luck and it seems more down to personnel being out of their depth than much else. Some supporters are expecting too much from some of our younger squad players ie Joe Dandy, Gabe George, Tom McElroy. They're expecting them to not make mistakes and be up to speed with the rigours of the National South. And we have to take on board how many players we've signed from the leagues below.

I had Slough to get 5 to 6 points from the first 4 games of the season and to get 4 points from the next 4 games. I thought we would lose against Torquay but I had us to draw today.I believe we now have to beat Tonbridge on Saturday and try to get something from Dartford.Currently we only have the 3 points but there's plenty of teams that are still in touching distance of our team and just one win will move Slough up the table if others fail with their match on Saturday.

It's not the start any of us wanted [Scott included] but Slough aren't far off from turning around their fortunes like they did last season. Keep the faith.

The foul and abusive came at the start of the 2nd half when the linesman was checking the nets, a Slough fan shouted don't you know it's against the laws to punch someone in the face. Even their keeper was stunned to hear what he said by saying that's the problem with officials these days with their egos.

Forgive me if I've misinterpreted your post, but I don't see how expecting players, however young, to be "up to the rigours of the National South" is in any way unreasonable?

Well Nathan, what I was getting at is that some of our squad players are still learning their craft and Slough fans shouldn't expect them to be flawless in games.

My perspective is to give them some leeway on the mistakes they make. Take Gabe George for instance, he is nowhere near good enough as a defensive left back at his stage of development in the National South imo but he needed to come on today to replace Tyrese Dyce because of his injury. That's his job as a squad member being he is a left sided defender/wing back/cover as full back. To me he is a better left wing back than full back at this level, as Reading Rebel alluded to. He is improving with game time and I'm not writing him off here as I can see plenty of potential in him, as I can with the other two players I mentioned.

I just wish others would wake up to this fact that when our better players leave the field of play they can't be easily replaced by youngsters, and that our team will run as smoothly as it did before.

TBH I don't think any player that's on our bench should be 'out of their depth' and I don't think they are.

Possibly in some cases not as good as the player they're replacing but certainly we couldn't afford to have any player who's out of their depth.

BTW I think they're just young and learning the harsh realities of football at this level and when you lose a game any mistakes made that has cost a goal will be magnified.

Very Harsh on Goddard IMO......if it wasn't for his movement we would still be trying to score against Torquay :)

So another game and another defeat.

If we were getting thrashed every game I would feel much worse than I do.

( Yes I know we lost 4-1 to Worthing but I don't believe that was a fair reflection of the whole 90 minutes of that game.)

I really don't think we are getting the rub of the green in these early season matches.

Even when the WSM defender got sent off we were 2-0 up already !

Yesterday, if Nathan's header had gone in and not been brilliantly saved by their goalkeeper, if Dan's towering header hadn't been cleared off the line, if Rohan's penalty save hadn't gone straight to one of the Chippenham players, if Johnny's shot had hit the post and gone in and not bounced out, who knows how different the game might have been ?

Yes I know there are a lot of if's, but's and maybe's in there but it goes to show that on another day things could easily have turned out differently.

I'm sure Scotty is beating himself up at the way results have started this season.

Can I just remind him that even the greatest and most successful manager ever in the English game went through dark times.

All the media expert's were saying back in 1990 that if Alex Ferguson's Man Utd lost in their FA Cup tie away to Nottingham Forest that Fergie was out.

I had a season ticket at Old Trafford then and was at that Forest cup-tie, so remember it very well.

United won the game 1-0, and the rest is history.

Things can change very quickly.

All us supporters are behind you and the team, Scotty.

Blimey, we're not out of August yet !

We still believe.

Do we know what happened to Tom Mcelroy yesterday?

He would have been an ideal sub to bring on to either add to our attack or replace say Nathan Minhas who was looking more ineffective and tired as the game wore on.

Minhas as a lone striker doesn’t work RR, he needs to be in a pair witn Alexander and yesterday showed that.

Some may see it as harsh but Goddard is luxury player that in this position we cannot afford.

Good post HR, yes we are all still behind the team and Scott, 1000%.

We are just all very frustrated and airing our opinions, which doesn’t make any of us right by the way!

Morning all.

It’s probably time that I reply, and don’t hide from the comments as I won’t ever shy away from the truth.

The truth is that the results haven’t been good enough, but like Holyport Rebel has just said in the previous post, it would be a lot easier to dissect if we had been clearly beaten in the games that we have played.

We’ve had more shots than every team we’ve faced, I think our luck at times has deserted us too, whether that be our one misfortune or decisions going against us.

I saw a comment about the play-offs. We could quite easily be sat on 9 points right now and everyone thinks the play-off dream is alive and kicking, but it hasn’t quite fallen for us, hence why we are sat on a disappointing 3 points.

If people want to focus on the negatives then that’s absolutely fine by me, but I certainly don’t have the time to do that. For people that have been to the games will know that we’ve been competitive and that’s all we ask the lads to be.

Not having Gary Abisogun and Mickel Platt is a huge miss for us, not having Lenchy for 4 games is a huge miss for us, suspensions we’ve had, injuries to key players, decisions going against us, it all adds up. It’s not excuses, it’s facts. We don’t have the strength in depth like other squads hence why we have tried to recruit players who are versatile.

I said it last season in November to judge the team on January 1st and I think I was proved right, it definitely improved. I’m not saying we need a few months to get things right but I do believe we’ll only get stronger from here on in with getting people back.

And, Wycombe Rebel, we’ve kept the same shape for the past 4 games. We’ve played 433, whether that be with 1 sitter in midfield or 2.
