v Worthing

I thought I'd start an early thread on this game that will test the ability of our new squad to the limit.

Worthing have made a fantastic start to the season beating Tonbridge 1-0 and yesterday gave Torquay a 3-0 thrashing away from home finishing the day at the top of the league table.

Both of our first two games have been close run affairs but Worthing look to be a different animal to those two teams.

Big response needed from the team or it could be a long night.

It's not just Worthing is it? Our next Saturday game is at Weston SM who like Worthing have won both their games and like Worthing haven't conceded I'm about 30 Mins from Westons ground in good traffic so looking forward to this one We've only lost our opening 2 by the lowest possible margin but whilst winning isn't  everything losing isn't anything We really have to eliminate the unnecessary silly errors or we really could be facing 0/12 by next Saturday

Think it might be:

Graczyk

Dandy Davies Bayliss

Jackman Prosper Sundire Dyce

Ogbonna Alexander Giles

The more I look at the squad now, I feel we need another centre back

If we could  re-sign Temi Eweka we'd be off and running ! Trouble is we're unlikely to get him and finding a composed centre half as good is no easy task.

So no Sundire who got MOTM on Saturday and no Goddard.

Minhas went off injured on Saturday.

Yes I thought about Munashe Sundire and Leon Chambers Parillion instead of Jeanmal Prosper and Johnny Giles but I thought I'd go first half with Jeanmal because he's a great attacking player and because Scott and Johnny Giles are very experienced and have played in the same team together. Johnny Giles also gives us the balance on the left side.

To me I want to see Slough break up Worthing's centre midfield/possession game, and look to break out quick to get the ball to David Ogbonna. His pace and dribbling trickery could upset Worthing's backline with Jeanmal providing the support.

That leaves very good substitutes to alter the game when needed and when tired legs are flagging. Johnny Goddard is ideal to replace David Ogbonna but I think David deserves to start from the off against Worthing. Munsashe and Leon will get plenty of game time and both are great players to up the intensitity in the second half.Bring one on at half time. If Nathan Minhas is unfit Tom McElroy comes in for a straight swap.

Whatever Scott decides to do for this game, stating the bleeding obvious Slough need to find a way of disrupting Worthing's play and creating chances in attack ! ha ha! May be a tall order given the last two results and playing Torquay's victors so close to last Saturday's game but we will see.

Nice idea but it's nailed on that 'Nash' will start the game more than likely with Goddard, Giles and Ogbonna.

Sounds like the whole Worthing camp are on a real high after the battering they gave Torquay.

This game will really test our metal.

Oh dear oh dear oh dear. Vastly inferior all over the pitch. No pressure. No cutting edge. No shots on target (goal aside). Can't pass. Can't defend. Silly bookings left, right and centre. Another red card. I can't see the crowds flocking to Arbour Park see this.

I don't want to single out any players just yet, but several need to pull their socks up ASAP.

3 defeats from 3. Maybe I'll reassess when would be a good time for panic stations as this was utter crap 😭

Playing 3 at the back is not working, playing 1 up front did not work tonight.

I didn’t see the first half…. I would be interested to know what formation we were playing.

I was surprised Dan Bayliss wasn’t in the starting line up, and apparently along with many others surprised our Man Of the Match, Ogbonna, was chosen to be subbed when we were only 2-1 down & he looked like our best attacking threat.

I watched on TV and I wish I didn’t bother to be honest.

We were awful and that soft side was evident again.

Started the game with another new formation. Seemed to be 4-2-3-1

Ogbonna and Prosper, our 2 best players subbed 🤷🏼

Still conceding too many and not scoring enough, problems from last season.

I’ve thought about this a lot and we signed players all from the leagues below so our playing budget won’t be overly competitive, maybe this is an early wake up call to the new owners as well. In other words, up the budget now!

The only way is up I suppose!!

I think that I can see which end of the table we will be finishing this season.

We started with a back 4 tonight.
