National League live streaming

Has everybody seen that the National League will be extending it’s TV channel and streaming over 300 live matches across the National League, National League North & South (this will be only for matches that are not being played at 3pm on a Saturday).

Apparently this will not impact match attendances, and they have announced that National League TV passes will be available to purchase before the season starts.

Sounds to me like the end of midweek travel to distant away matches, but maybe an opportunity for the Club to purchase a pass and stream any live away matches we have on a big screen in the Club bar.

It looks like the prices are:-

£9.50 for a household one day pass

£22.50 for a household monthly pass

£170.00 for a household season pass

£180.00 for a one day commercial premises pass

How many of our fans are likely to register for this?

Seems decent prices for anyone who can't get to a game.

I’ve registered and will pay to watch the midweek games I can’t make. Would be useful to know the breakdown of how the cost is split between clubs/league.

I went for the monthly pass at least for this month as it includes three Slough midweek games - Worthing, Chippenham, Dartford and any of the National League 3pm Saturday fixtures as I am international, but I'm guessing anyone with a VPN in England always see these games too. As far as I am aware, match commentary is NOT provided as standard, so will vary club to club.

It’s determined by the “favourite” club you select and then if you watch the relevant stream the team is on.

Obviously favours teams with a larger fanbase. Costs are then deducted if NLTV have to provide camera and/or commentary.

I would be very interested to know how much the club's get out of this arrangement.

Even if they get the whole daily rate for a match which seems to be 9 pound 50p, that is less than they would get if an adult paid on the gate to see the same game.

And there is surely no way they would get all of this 9 pound 50p fee ?

I think this arrangement  will definitely have a negative  impact on attendances.

Die-hard fans will attend games come what may.

Come wintertime though, if fair weather fans have the choice of either going out on a cold, wet, miserable January Tuesday evening and paying 15 quid to see us play in the flesh at Arbour Park, or staying in the warm at home and paying 9 pound 50p to see the same game live in the comfort of their own home, what do you think they might  decide to do ?

I think I know.

I also wonder if some supporters who might travel on the coach to our midweek away games might now think they would prefer to stay at home and see the match on their own tv/tablets, which might mean there are not enough numbers to justify running a coach thereby reducing the numbers attending the games even more.

I can see why some people think this is a great idea.

I feel there are many more negatives than positives.

I hope I'm wrong.
