Beaconsfield Away Tomorrow

Hi all

I'm sure everyone knows but just in case, a reminder that Holloways Park is a completely cashless venue, strictly card only.

I would have thought that if you want to increase gates you make things as convenient as possible for spectators not for yourselves.

Football is now a business at this level and clubs such as Beaconsfield and now Slough will aim to make a profit from the fans.

Look at why A23 and it's backers have taken over STFC, it is not to make charitable contributions every week, it is to see a return on their investment.

And that profit will come out of the pockets of loyal fans.

Nobody is making money from owning a non league football club, and if you don’t believe me either look at the filed accounts of non league football clubs or watch ‘Welcome to Wrexham’.

It will only be Premier League clubs & possibly half the Championship clubs that are possibly making any money.

The only owners who have a chance of making any profit are in the Premier League. Any non league owner making money through their club will be highly suspicious or they intend selling the ground. Regarding clubs not accepting cash yes it’s a bit foolish as they’re potentially turning away vital custom. But the world will soon be a non cash society so it’s something we all need to get used to.

For a club like Beaconsfield who don't get many fans as it is,to then make the ground cashless is frankly daft.

I was intending to watch Beaconsfield on and off this season[when not clashing with Slough games I can attend]. This ludicrous cashless thing has put me right off that idea.

It's something we all need to get used to  ?

Some of us can see  what a terrifying scenario this could easily lead to.

Thank God I'm in my 60's.

I wouldn't want to be a a youngster growing up now.

( Sorry, I know this has got nothing to do with football but I couldn't let a comment like that go by without replying.)

For all you dinosaurs out there :laugh(2): it wasn't all cashless, money was being taken on the turnstiles.

I did mention that to the lady on the turnstile as last year on two occasions at U18 matches, people were turned away as they wouldn't take cash.

She didn't really answer me so I didn't push on it.

He was not on the team sheet but do we know who the keeper was who played for us in the second half?

He looked familiar to me, I did ask one of the keepers I know who was there but he didn't know his name either.

That wasn’t him. Billy Terrell was the keeper that played who was from Bournemouth, but today we’ve agreed a season long loan goalkeeper to come in from elsewhere who will hopefully be with us by the weekend.

Is it a case of the opportunity to sign this loan goalkeeper was too good to pass up as I thought the plan was to try a few different goalkeepers and then decide?

I/We believe so! He’s coming from a top club with great feedback and we like what we have seen so have jumped at the chance. 👍🏼

Great! Hopefully another Will. Plus he’ll have 7 friendlies to get to know the team/tactics.
