Next Season

I picked up an interesting analysis on the following site which has been done on league positions last weekend:

http://www.tonykempster.btinternet.co.uk/maps.htm

It suggests that we may be in a league which looks like this at stage 4:

AFC Wallingford

Banbury United

Bashley

Bideford

Bracknell Town

Buckingham Town

Burnham

Clevedon Town

Didcot Town

Evesham United

Mangotsfield United

Marlow

Newport IoW

Oxford City

Paulton Rovers

Slough Town

Swindon Supermarine

Taunton Town

Thame United

Wimborne Town

Winchester City

Yate Town

The guy has worked really hard at this - well worth a look - but it gives us a warning for what could happen if we don't make the top six this season!

Looks like Slough is furthest east, and Bideford is a good four hours away, so Newport on a Tuesday night will be a picnic by comparison.

I recognise most of these place names, but, without intending any offence to their supporters, where are the following teams located (nearest major towns, etc)?

Bashley

Clevedon Town

Mangotsfield United

Paulton Rovers

(I found Yate Town (north-east of Bristol) using streetmap.co.uk last time a similar thread was raised, but I don't have time today, hence the request. And please don't just tell me the answers are 'Bashley, Clevedon, Mangotsfield and Paulton', as this is no help!)

Hi PJ - Bashley is at New Milton in Hants, Clevedon is in Somerset, near Bristol I think, Mangotsfield is alsonear Bristol (you can just see it on the map on Kempsters web site_ and Paulton is at Midsomer Norton, near Bath (I hope CI Barnaby is not on the board - we might not get out alive!)

I see AFC Wimbledon and Beaconsfield SYCOB have been placed at this level, but in two separate leagues. Wimbledon's looks as if it is mainly the old DML Eastern, whilst the Sycob league appears a bit like the old Ryman D1N.

I fail to see how the reorganisation is actually any benefit to the clubs? And when I say clubs I largely mean us. <img src="/images/graemlins/attentat.gif" alt="" />

From a quick glance, this means a lot more travelling . As much maligned as the M25 is, the away journeys this season have been fairly easy both to find and with regards to the traffic. Last year was harder largely due to the Essex trips.

I can't think that we will see as much away support as this season with those trips and the cost for the club must be higher?

I wonder how many other clubs will find this?

I know the current system has its flaws hence Kettering in the Ryman Premier and the Dr Martens generally but is this regionalisation going to do what it says on the tin?

Having said all that, I would love to be back in the conference for glorious away trips to Scarborough so perhaps I should quit my mithering.

Martin,

In fact, looking at the list if we did make a top six finish, then the likely league according to Kempster would contain teams like:

Aylesbury United

Bath City

Bromsgrove Rovers

Chippenham Town

Cirencester Town

Dunstable Town

Gloucester City

Halesowen Town

Harrow Borough

Hemel Hempstead Town

Maidenhead United

Merthyr Tydfil

Northwood

Redditch United

Rugby United

St Albans City

Sutton Coldfield

Team Bath

Weston-super-Mare

Windsor & Eton

Wingate & Finchley

Yeading

So still some local matches with old enemies, but equally some long distance travelling to some new ones!

Better get a top six finish in my book.

As a Midlands resident, looks like I'll get quite a few away games on my doorstep, including my old club!!!!.

It is interesting to look at the potential for next season. Clearly the second proposed league is the best one, higher up the pyramid and with a few more "big" matches. I suppose it could still change a lot but this has to be an incentive for top six.

I don't envy the brighton rebel's travelling.

I agree, as a Midlands Rebel list 2 is much more attractive. Hey, one of my mates even plays for Sutton Coldfield so I should get a freebie!!!!
