Shearer would have still been playing back then so wouldn’t have been a presenter. I seem to recall it being Mark Lawrenson that made the comment.

As I remember, one of the presenters said along the lines of that, Shearer scores goals like that every week and isn’t penalised for it. So Shearer was definitely a playing at that time and not a presenter.
