I have it on good authority that the FA is expected to publish the list of which Club's have been accepted for the FA Cup, FA Trophy and FA Vase on Friday 30 June with the draws for the early rounds of the competitions published a week Iater on Friday 7 July:

Well Real Bedford are pretty much assured of entry to the FA Vase, it's just the FA Cup where there is some doubt, as I said watch this space for details tomorrow and then the actual draws for the early rounds the following Friday (7 July).

As far as I know all Atep 5 clubs who apply are guaranteed a place.

In recent seasons, it has been the convention, if not a hard-and-fast rule, that Clubs could be accepted into the FA Cup only if they had taken part in one of the previous season's FA Trophy or FA Vase competitions.  This is to prevent Clubs from ignoring the 'smaller' competition in favour of the 'larger' FA Cup competition, which commands much higher prize money.

I have seen nothing in print so far this year referring to the convention, so don't know if it is being adhered to or not.  I guess we will find out tomorrow.

It was awarded to the 6th best teams based on points per game that weren't promoted. Guess Bedford dominating the league hurt the likes of Chenecks

Sincere apologies Rhodes, but I have no idea how to post links.

For the benefit of our long-distance followers however, here is what I can tell them.

a)  In the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup, Real Bedford are drawn away to FC Clacton, one of the stronger outfits in the Essex Senior League.  This is not the draw RB would have chosen, but is certainly a winnable game, and should be a good test for newcomers to the RB side.

b)  If they get past Clacton, RB are then at home to either Milton Keynes Irish or Dunstable Town.  Both of these sides are in the Spartan Premier, the same division as RB, and both are sides that RB would expect to beat at home.

c)  In the First Qualifying Round of the FA Vase, RB are drawn at Home to Rothwell Corinthians, now of the SSML Division One.  RC were relegated from Step 5 last season and should pose no significant threat to RB.

d)  Once past RC, RB will be at home to either Risborough Rangers or Flackwell Heath, both of the Combined Counties League Premier Division.  Both RR and FH should be among the front runners in the CCL, and either should prove a stern test for RB.  Home advantage may well make the difference.

For the benefit of our long-distance followers however, here is what I can tell them.

a)  In the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Cup, Real Bedford are drawn away to FC Clacton, one of the stronger outfits in the Essex Senior League.  This is not the draw RB would have chosen, but is certainly a winnable game, and should be a good test for newcomers to the RB side.

b)  If they get past Clacton, RB are then at home to either Milton Keynes Irish or Dunstable Town.  Both of these sides are in the Spartan Premier, the same division as RB, and both are sides that RB would expect to beat at home.

c)  In the First Qualifying Round of the FA Vase, RB are drawn at Home to Rothwell Corinthians, now of the SSML Division One.  RC were relegated from Step 5 last season and should pose no significant threat to RB.

d)  Once past RC, RB will be at home to either Risborough Rangers or Flackwell Heath, both of the Combined Counties League Premier Division.  Both RR and FH should be among the front runners in the CCL, and either should prove a stern test for RB.  Home advantage may well make the difference.

Thank you for the breakdown! Excellent work and very useful for folks like me who can't do much beyond google last years records. I'm super enthused by the Vase in particular as that's one they can conceivably make a run in. I went down the rabbit hole and ended up watching highlights from the last two years finals. Amazing that Newport went to back to back finals. My ears perked up listening to the Radio Diamonds feed of the friendly against Bedford over the weekend as they mentioned Bedford Town were playing them. FA Cup will be fun as it presents a chance, should they string some wins together, to really not be the giant and pivot into role of giant killer even within the non league sides. As it stands, most league games feel as though they should get three points nearly every time out even if that's unrealistic. 

 

Seems like they were quite fortunate to potentially have 3 home games in their 4 openers. Gotta win to take advantage but I'm so excited to see what they can do.

It's 'criminal' isn't, is it fair to award the seven FA Cup places to the highest ranked Step 6 Club's who were, for whatever reason, not promoted to Step 5 level based on their points per game (PPG) from last season. The standard and quality of some League's Step 6 Divisions are far inferior to others, the seven Club's are Brislington FC, Hartpury University, Liskeard Athletic, Okehampton Argyle, Stockport Town, Wells City and Wendron United, three from the South West Peninsula League and two from the Western League which says it all:
