Toggs has left All the best for the future

Surprised especially as he was part of the management team. Odd to me that he states one of the reasons are the demands of step 2 but he’s played at this level for a while now? Fully expect him to now sign for Bakes & Unders, although could Bracknell be an option with the ex Slough contingent there? I wonder if Scott knew of Lee’s decision a while back or if he’s just been told? Hopefully we can attract another top quality coach and soon so it doesn’t disrupt our plans.

I cannot see why you think it is odd that Lee said about demands of Step 2. He isn't getting any younger and coaching Slough and playing for Slough must be more demanding, than dropping down a league with lesser crowds and with less pressure to perform every game. Least he will leave our football club still on the top of his game and will be remembered for such. Good luck to him.

It’s odd that it’s an issue now and not in all the past season’s he’s played at this level?

Plus he was assistant manager so if playing demands were getting too much, give up the playing side and concentrate on the management? I’m sure Scott knew of his decision and has someone lined up. Anyway he’s been a great player and coach and I wish him well.

He's older I suppose, and perhaps with a wife/ and kids[and since Covid] perhaps his priorities have changed. Coaching and playing and organising training after work commitments can't be easy.Perhaps he's just tired of doing it.

Possibly, it’ll be interesting then to see if he takes up just a playing or coaching role or both next.

I'm sure his decision has little to do with the demands of playing and coaching at step 2 but everything to do with the time involved in travelling.

Togs has a young family and I've read somewhere else that there's another one on the way.

The word ‘demands’ is extremely broad. It’s not just a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday job. There’s a lot more to being an assistant manager and coach than just being at training. It’s everything else that goes with it.

There’s no fall out at all, everyone is on good terms, just stop any rumours spreading! Togs has two children already and another on the way, with a full time job to go with plus adding STFC duties to that, it’s a hell of a lot!

I would have loved to have been able to keep him around, but after discussions he decided it was best to step away. It might be football that he still focuses on, but probably more so in just a player role, or even kicking on with his personal training business with his brother that he’s determined to grow.

Big loss for sure but will make sure we get a worthy replacement!

Do we need a replacement if we have Yella? I’m presuming he’s a coach or do we want/need 2 coaches? Also when can we expect to hear what players have been retained?

Toggs was obviously more than just a coach which will have to be replaced.

Unless Yella can get his boots out of the bin 😅

I was only referring to the coaching/management side as I’m sure the squad will be replenished sufficiently. Be interesting who is brought in as it’ll be tricky as anyone decent will surely already be at a club.

Will definitely bring in another but it’ll be someone that is just a coach, not a player/coach. Middle of this week we should be able to confirm the players that have been retained, well, as many of them as possible. All seem extremely positive so far so fingers crossed.Just need to dot the i’s and cross the G’s on a couple.

It'll be a great opportunity for an experienced player, perhaps in their early 30's who's been playing at a higher level, has a few years left on the clock and wants to get into a coaching role whilst still playing at a high level of non league football.

Look forward to that and I guess you’re speaking with many new potential players too? I guess unless they’re signing a contract us fans won’t know about it until League forms are available?
