Who is talking about the managers aim?

I’m referring to supporter expectation the season after flirting with relegation, losing managers mid season etc etc

Stability and progress should be the expectation next season, not the play offs!

Every managers aim should be to reach the play-offs as a minimum.

It's called ambition and every good manager should have it.

I think that isn't facing reality,though.

You can't tell me that a manager who has a small budget to get players in and is searching in a different pool to the top guns of the division believes his team will get in the play offs. There's teams in non-league football[and probably professional league football] that know they are not in the position to compete with the best. Most are happy to finish mid-table.

No manager in any league is going to say 'we are a mid table team or a side likely to be facing a relegation battle'.  Better PR to say the team is aiming for the play-offs. Bakes and Unders said it every season but it didn't always happen. They are not stupid, they knew when they had a chance of getting high up and when their sides couldn't.

I haven't a clue what our squad/management will look like under the new owners.I hope they continue with Scott/Lee/Tony[Yella] next season and keep in place the core group of players we currently have, to build on, and to then strengthen wisely but to me very few of us on this forum know what will happen come 23/24 season.

What is already encouraging for me is the desire to drive attendances up. Little has been said about it on this forum but our average attendances over the last three home matches has been very close to 1,000.

Yes there have been incentives in place to achieve this, a TV match, & the team have been in reasonable form. But it is a first step of what might be several steps in achieving average attendances of 1,000+ paying fans, which in my opinion is what is needed if we are to seriously challenge for promotion.

Definitely, been lots of new faces about which is great to see.

I know the guys that were with the Burnham Juniors flag bearers on Saturday and some of them have said they'll be back for the Braintree match who hadn't been before and really enjoyed it, so little by little hopefully.

I'm sorry but you've got to believe in your ability if you're a manager regardless of your budget.

There are teams that do very well and make the play-offs on small budgets.

It's not all about money.

As you say none of us know what our squad will look like or what our budget will be but hopefully we'll soon find out and it'll be a competitive one.

Whats the point of going into a season with the expectation of finishing mid table or below?

Even as a supporter you've got to be positive and believe you're going to make the play-offs.

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but can I just point out that we are not absolutely certain to be staying up yet.

All this talk about what we might/could/should do next season in the National League South is very interesting, but I'm going to be closely watching the scores as they come in this evening, hoping that Cheshunt and Concord both lose.

I know we should be safe, but I'll be  more relaxed when  it's mathematically certain.

I don't think any ones mentioned it but the behind the goal footage after scoring is an excellent addition to the highlights.

Yes, especially in real time for those of us following on Twitter, they are posted within minutes of the goal. Fantastic.

Absolutely agree. Until we are safe, then lets talk :)

Cheshunt have got 4 games left to play.

Their next 3 are all at home, tonight v Chelmsford, Saturday v Bath and next Tuesday v Worthing.

If we don't win on Saturday away to Weymouth and Cheshunt win these home games it goes to a final day shoot out as to which of us finishes higher in the league.

Yes, it is very unlikely that Cheshunt will win these 3 matches, ( hopefully Chelmsford will do the business for us tonight ), but even though our destiny would still be in our own hands come the Braintree match, I really wouldn't want it to go down to that final game.

Tonight I'm a Chelmsford fan.

Don’t forget Concord. Still able to get 52 pts. 😂
