Just been reading the Enfield forum. Enfield have Andy Leese[ex Chesham manager] at their helm, seems the natives are not happy with him as they look like they will miss out on the play-offs again.

What's that got to do with Farnborough I hear you cry?  Well it got me thinking about Farnborough's climb to this division under Spencer Day, and Slough's progress through Bakes and Unders to Scott Davies's rapid promotion to manager.  Slough looked bang in trouble when Bakes and Unders were given no wriggle room to sign new players and it fell on Scotty's and Lee's shoulders to turn around Slough's fortunes.

To my mind they have been terrific in keeping this rookie side out of the relegation places but of course the story isn't over yet. Three games to go and unlike Enfield's gripes about not being in a play off place, Slough have the ignominy of fighting to stave off relegation but in some ways it doesn't feel like that as our new squad of players has been refreshed/renewed to what we had been watching around the final weeks of the Bakes/Unders/Trent era.

Whatever happens in the next three games, and whatever division we will be in next season I'm optimistic that we can build/add on to what our team is currently.

I would say that it would be unlikely we turn a 4-1 away defeat to Farnborough about 3 weeks ago in to a home win.

Farnborough’s recent away record isn’t great (one win & three defeats in last four), but their away win was at Hampton who have been in similar home form to us, and their losses to Chippenham, Chelmsford & Dartford who were all in good form when they played them.

My heart says a 2-2 draw, my head says a 2-1 loss.

Those three weeks have been eventful, though. The Slough team that went to Farnborough was very depleted that day and it even had the miraculous old timer Jefferson Louis in it[not that he let us down].

Big miss not having Temi for this game,as he is such an assured presence in our defence but it is what it is and Slough will need to find a way of shoring up our defence if we are to have any success against Farnborough.

Personally, I think Farnborough are beatable but Slough can't be shrinking violets on the day, and must show up with their shooting boots to win. We need our experienced players to lead the way and for our younger players to respond to that and take inspiration from them. The good thing is Farnborough only have the local bragging rights to play for and hopefully it's been a long season for them in this new division so one or two of them could be thinking about their holidays and not switched on for the game. Slough can't do that. We need to be focussed and right on it from the off.

No predictions from me, as I don't want to jinx it.

Farnborough are currently just 3 points off a play off place!

3spirit, not sure where you get that Farnborough only have bragging rights to play for?

They are only 3 points off a play off place.

Unfortunately with Temi gone and Joe Dandy injured we've had to juggle our back line again which is never helpful at this stage of the season when you need the points.

The thing is we don't know officially why Bakes and Unders left.

They just said they needed a rest after 11 games of the season.

I didn't look at the table and thought they were lower !  Let's hope they don't want promotion ! ha ha!

They are desperate for it!

The easiest game could well be the last v Braintree as by then they could have their play off place secured (separate topic but they’ve certainly won the dark horses race this season!) meaning they’d no doubt rest some players plus none of the ones playing will be playing at 100% with the risk of injury/suspension. I’m really hoping this is a boring nothing to play for game!

Is Joe Dandy out for Saturday?

Looks like Shane Bush will play then, if he is. I don't see a lot of difference in quality from him or Matt Hall, with Matt being unlucky to be loaned out to Ware. Neither of them look a ready made fit for regular National League South duties but there's potential in both imo. Not seen either of them a great deal so could be wrong. Shane Bush looks to have the edge currently as he's been playing of late for Slough and looks a no nonsense defender, doesn't seem to have a lot of finesse with his clearances but is willing to roll his sleeves up and get stuck in, and his height makes me think he fits better into Slough's back line currently. Matt is probably a more adaptable footballer, though, in that he could play other positions.

To me Matt started well in his first appearances for Slough but didn't really impose himself enough for Scott to keep him around. The games I've seen Shane play he seems rather limited with the ball at his feet but least he's not a pushover, and unlike Matt has taken 'the bull by the horns' to mix it with the opposition, despite the jump in level from what he has been used to.

Offically we don't know but unofficially we do !

Sorry Curtis, but I have to say I don't really see any logic to your comment.

Even if we had played our best team 3 weeks ago, ( which we didn't ) , I don't see what relevance a game weeks ago has to do with what is going to happen this coming Saturday.

For their first season after winning promotion Farnborough have done very well to be on the edge of the play off positions, but it's not as though we are playing Man City on Saturday !

Farnborough have lost their last 2 league games, and have only scored the same amount of goals in the league as we have. (55).

( Admittedly from 2 fewer games, but they're not exactly scoring goals for fun like Ebbsfleet for example.)

They are where they are because they have conceded a lot fewer goals than we have.

If we can make sure we don't make any silly mistakes at the back come Saturday, I really don't see why we can't get the 3 points.

We want to win just as much as they do.

( Possibly more so as we are fighting for our lives to stay up ? )

Excellent result I said before the Taunton game that 50pts would keep us safe  I still believe that !

In general other results went our way today if Hungerford and Weymouth took all the points still available to them they wouldnt reach 50 points and  all 4 bottom teams lost today

Also Cheshunt have 4games 12pts to play for and Concord have 6 games 18 points to play for If both clubs took maximum points from all their outstanding games they would both reach 52 points only
