Carshalton 2 Hx 2

cup of tea

Obviously other than a mathematical miracle we’re not going to win the league now, that’s between Stortford and Canvey now. We need to win our two remaining games to try and get home advantage in the playoffs. It’s just an inability to see out games that have cost us. We’re all hurting , the players as well. Got to keep going though

When your own players say ‘we’ve [****!!****]ed it’ then that’s says it all. Harsh for them to take all the responsibility but I agree with the fact that we’ve [****!!****]ed it. Today should’ve been us celebrating winning the league or enjoying our day out but it was the complete opposite but we move on.

On a seperate note how many goals have we conceded from crosses this season in particular at the back post? 3 in the past week is a start and needs to be addressed for the play offs.

But as previously stated we move on and I hope n pray we are not in this league next season.

Not going to comment on the game as i was unable to make it, but was following on twitter.

Too many times this season we have taken the lead up and till the last 5 mins or so and either drawn or lost all three points. This has cost us and imo is the difference between promotion and ending up in playoffs.

Title gone, heads gone, i personally don't hold much hope for the playoffs, so yet another season potentially ending in heartache and the paying supporter suffers!

What a poor result, praise is rightly given to the management when things go well so criticism should also be accepted too.
Our game management has been horrendous for months - why do we allow teams to go at us in the hope we try and soak up pressure but inevitable fail....just how many goals in the last 5 mins have we conceded this season? we have a large squad of talented players but seem to roll out the same team when its clear changes need to be made.

It feels like I as this same questions every week but how about Mascoll? Where is Allen?
Ade right now does not look like the player we thought signed from Folkestone (maybe lack of confidence? maybe we just don't create enough chances for him?...I honestly believe if we signed a top midfielder along the lines of Merrifield from BS (knowing full well how much losing Spence in the middle affects the team) instead of a forward would have won the league by now.

And finally we need to lose this mentality of feeling like the victim as every team we play raises its game against us...it's rubbish - you think other teams don't try as hard when BS or Canvey play them? the whole team needs a kick up the arse.

😅 Apologies for always moaning on here

Spot on. The only difference is between us and Stortford and Canvey is they both know how to defend. We have a real soft touch about us especially when we are leading.

It's probably the weight of expectations - we won the FA trophy when there was no pressure, at any round after playing national south teams had we gone out we would've been disappointed but proud. We were in a fantastic position here (top with games in hand), and Stortford kept on winning, going on a long run of minutes without conceding. But right now we are in a good position to get promoted and the players can do it.

Couldn't make the game today, but I was glued to twitter and annoyed the Mrs with my swearing at 90 minutes. This last few weeks has been torture dropping every advantage we had. We can't expect anything from the season if we take 5 points from 18 at the end of the day. Sadly, unless BS have a  catastrophic finish, we need a surge of luck to get out of this league.

It is what it is... bitterly disappointing not to be cruising out in front to automatic promotion but playoffs beckon. Keep going, keep believing and fight to the end I say...can't think of a better club and bunch of supporters to get behind the team... Cmon yeee chins! ❤️❤

Very disappointed today, shame things have started going wrong recently.  What's the dropping defenders back to the goalposts at free kicks all about?, it's not like they had Ronaldo or Beckham, made it easy for them to score and cost us 2 points !! Fingers crossed for the playoffs anyway.

By my count we have dropped 10 points by conceding late equalizers this season which are as follows:

A Lewis, H Haringey Borough, H Carshalton Athletic, A Corinthian Casuals, A Carshalton Athletic

In respect to current form in the last  7 games (1/6 of season) we are 10th in League.

In last 14 games (1/3 of season) we are 5th and in last 21 games (1/2 of season we are 7th.

By  comparison Canvey not an Island are top in all three, Aveley are 4th, 2nd & 4th respectively and Cray Wanderers are 2nd, 4th and 3rd.

It will have to be some dramatic turnaround for us to get promotion this season I fear.

All terribly disappointing although automatic promotion not mathematically over it is highly likely we will be in the Play Offs.

The players and management must be feeling awful having let themselves and the fans down with poor results in the run in and clean sheets being hard to find.  In addition to this the other sides have shown good form and have the momentum.

The odds at this moment of promotion look grim although I wouldn’t bet against us grouping together and getting the job done. Memories of last season will be there but if it is the play offs and whether we are home or away we must galvanise and pull through.

We have a chance and that is to be thankful for so we can forget about recent results and get the job done. I think that the players will be giving everything and wouldn’t it be fantastic if we pulled this off.

We just don't seem to be good enough to close games out .. add to that the point dropped at Canvey (A) and Horsham (A) where we managed to turn draws into defeats.

Barring a miracle we're play-off bound.  We need to forget what has happened and just focus on the next 2 games - we have to go into the play-offs with belief and confidence and 2 good wins will give us that.

Like everyone else I’m disappointed with the last few results. We should remember though that we are not the best supported team in this league (probably 7th or 8th) so are already punching a bit above our weight anyway by being top for so long. Here’s hoping that we pick up some form in the next 2 games to take into the play offs

Without sounding rude that’s a very naive comment to make. Teams with smaller crowds sometimes have investment from elsewhere and therefore will pay higher wages to attract the better players. Look at Luton in the championship they are sitting in 3rd place have a capacity of around 11,000 and therefore the lowest average attendance in the league.

It’s not naive at all, it’s simple economic facts. The teams with bigger crowds will be able to pay higher wages and therefore attract better players. Unless they have a mega rich benefactor which I don’t believe is the case here.
What I was trying to say in the original post was that we have no divine right to be winning this league and indeed only got promoted into it 3 years ago. We are currently 2nd yet if you listen to some of the crowd in the last few home games you would think we’re fighting against relegation
