v Farnborough (away)

Recommended Posts

Spencer Day already calling this game their 'cup final'.

With a third of the pitch covered in water the day before it was touch and go whether the game against Chippenham was going to be on.

In his post match interview Day said the pitch was 'very heavy' and difficult to pass the ball and play football on.

Spencer made me laugh how many times he said his players were 'running on empty' and were 'heavy legged'.

Let's hope for more of the same from Farnborough on Tuesday. 😀

Wasn’t there but from what I’m told it was poor again, we’re in danger of being in the right sh*t!

Some players really need to start pulling their finger out, can’t only turn up 1 in 4/5 games, really disappointing

Wouldn’t say it was all poor this eve, Slough had their moments attacking.  A early wonder save from Turner from a Scott free kick kept it 0-0 early on in the game.

Not enough players won their battles this eve, different levels of attitude and desire IMO this eve.

Willard took all his 3 goals well for Farnborough.

Nail squarely on the head there, it’s been the problem all season and why our form is inconsistent

Firstly there were some mitigating circumstances for what was a poor performance which ultimately ended in a comprehensive defeat.

You cannot legislate for two players being absent through illness and one breaking down on the motorway.

All three players are vitally important cogs in our team and finding any sort of adequate replacements at short notice must of been an impossibility and as such we started the game with Jefferson Louis having to play which left us with only 3 subs on the bench and I think I'm right in saying one of those was not fit to play any part in the game.

On the performance it was another game where we gave the ball away far too cheaply far too often and if it wasn't already going to be a difficult enough game, for at least 3 of their goals we gave them a helping hand.

Firstly Shane Bush lost the ball in a dangerous area of the pitch which lead to I think their first goal and then Josh Jackman made a couple of errors which again lead to goals.

In the first half our only effort on goal was from a terrific free kick from Scott Davies unfortunately the save from from Turner was equal to it.

In the second half Ogo scored to make it 2-1 to put us right back in the game with a chance but unfortunately it didn't last long when a poor pass from Josh set Farnborough up for their third goal which virtually sealed the game.

We didn't throw the towel in, kept on pushing for a goal and in the final stages of the game we carved out a few chances which unfortunately went just wide of the target.

An evening that started badly and got progressively worse apart from the small crumb of comfort of a spirited late effort from the team.

Well after a rather sleepless night I think it's fair to say that the last 2 games have not gone the way we wanted them to in terms of results but also in the performances.

However we have 7 games left to achieve what I think will be one of the best achievements the club have ever done.

I for one will be going to every game knowing 100% that we are good enough to get this done. We will sing/shout/cheer the rebels onto victory.

On a personal note my dad who sadly is no longer with us but I know is always by my side will be cheering the lads on as will all those other rebels who are watching from above.

I don't know what goes on behind the scenes but all i can say is what Scott and everyone connected with the club have done an outstanding job to get us where we are.

We can do this, believe.

Once a rebel always a rebel.

Bonjour, thank you for your post, means a lot to read that.

On December 3rd we were 1 point above the relegation zone and in absolute turmoil with players departing and a lot of uncertainty at the club.

If truth be told, had someone offered us to be where we are in the league now then I would have snapped their hand off. I never imagined that we would march on up the table and pull ourselves away from the bottom with ease. And if anyone thought otherwise then I’d be surprised!

We’ve got 9 players in the squad at the moment who have been added since the day I took charge, so trying to rebuild mid season with where we were at in December was never going to be plain sailing.

The last two games have been powder puff to say the least, but with Togs, Lenchy, Joe and Temi all available from the start on Saturday certainly puts us in a better position compared to where we were at yesterday evening at 7.45pm.

Losing Franny (arguably our best player in many peoples eyes) has also been a huge loss but we’ve coped admirably in my opinion with picking up results in his absence.

We will be stronger for the last month of the season with people available, the month where it counts, so hopefully that’s a positive. I know it’s not looking as comfortable as someone might have hoped but we will do everything we can stay in this league. Mark my words.

I couldn't be at the last two matches due to a family do on Saturday and dad taxi duty for my daughters football training last night but I will be at the last seven and I fully believe we will get out of this, we all have to believe it and get behind Scotty and the lads.

Scotty you and the lads have got this, I've believed that since day one and I still believe it, will it be a dog fight, yes it will but its now we'll see who wants to fight for the badge and who doesn't and I know you'll get them up for it.

Come on Slough!
