Major Announcement Re Beaconsfield Town

Not the major news I was expecting, just a new company to take over what A23 were doing. I think they’ll have a decent chance if the play offs next season but the club really need to up their efforts of building crowds otherwise they could be in our league struggling to get 150 home fans.

It's all getting a bit confusing.

We have our own under 18's and now A23 are advertising for under 16's, 17's and under 18's.

I suppose the difference is if a youngster wants to combine full time education with football.

Looking at it logically if you're good enough where would you go to play your football Slough or Beaconsfield?

Beaconsfield is not a footballing town and will always struggle to get a meaningful amount of support.

Yes but you can't argue that their chairman/owner and their board of directors are not doing their utmost to change Beaconsfield's fortunes on this around. Certainly got their media stuff going in the right direction and the appointment of Tristan Lewis, and now Bakes and Unders are big steps forward imo.

I'm surprised they haven't tried to form some connection with Beaconsfield rugby club [and maybe their cricket club] to try and boost the football club's image.

Public transport, parking facilities, seating and ground capacity are all an issue for them and it's not a venue you can walk to either. I can well remember the opposite field where getting stuck inn the mud was a major problem at times!

The new U16/U17/U18s will I'd imagine be an A23 Football/Education link up and they'll probably play in things like the Tactic League for Academy programmes during the day, across the week.

This would then also tie into the midweek evening sides playing in the Isthmian Youth League and the Allied Counties Youth League which are already in place at Slough and Beaconsfield.(quite a lot of the same lads involved)

This in turn will feed into the newly set up U19s/U23s at Slough which we had before hoping then to pathway into the 1st Team, I think they might be in things like the JPL and Suburban Leagues?  I think I'm right as well that we are looking at forming an U21s but I'm not sure if that's happening or not from a conversation I had last week.

With A23 coming back to Slough, as mentioned that then opens the door for someone else to step in and do the same at Beaconsfield and that's what United Select Football are doing and will no doubt create/set up similar teams and go in similar leagues, my lad is part of United Select, I genuinely rate them highly.

Obviously we all want the 1st team to succeed and be the focal point but having a great youth/junior structure underneath then hopefully unearths the gems going forward that the club can utilize so to speak.

We all know about Bakes/Unders and Trent but I cannot speak highly enough of Tristan Lewis, my lad is with him at United Select and the way its run, the quality of coaching and education is as good as I've seen.

BG, you are so right about that field which supporters park in, in the winter it is treacherous and car wheels skid and get stuck in the mud. I hated parking there when Slough ground shared with them, when the weather was wet.

Walking to the ground is definitely another issue for them. In essence they built the ground in the wrong place and should have had it the other side of the motorway nearer the actual town but accomodating Slough Youth Centre Old Boys was never going to be high priority.

If I recall correctly the majority of a good Slough Ladies team moved to Beaconsfield not long ago.

They presumably had a good reason for doing so.

I think it was due not paying or certainly paying less subs at Beaconsfield.

Not sure H&Y supporters were over the moon with Tristan Lewis.

No I know and I'm sure there are others but that's where Bakes/Unders and Trent come in with the 1st Team, Tris will take care of all the rest.

He is highly regarded in the academy/junior world and apart from links all over he works with Arsenal at the minute as well.

I wonder if TL is the boss of B&U or he’ll have 100% no say or interference with the first team? I’m presuming B&U knew about his appointment going by that official statement. Just can’t imagine any management team being overly keen on a director of football!

Pretty certain B&U would not accept any interference with 1st team matters.

That statement does say that TL was instrumental in securing the services of B&U He'd  been involved since January.
