FA Trophy Draw

CIFC - Y.A

Recommended Posts

We've been drawn away (Again!) to Stalybridge or Marine. Both teams currently play in the Unibond Premier, and are in mid-table.

I've not heard of either team personally, is this expected to be an easy or hard game?

Lets hope we can advance through to the next round, or maybe, just maybe, do the double! <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Both mid-table, so (in theory) a winnable game - maybe via a replay. Either place is a long way to go ! The good news is that Altrincham have been drawn against Shrewsbury. Draw below:

Altrincham v Shrewsbury Town

Halifax Town or Staines Town v Maindenhead or Wealdstone

Stalybridge Celtic or Marine v Canvey Island

Kings Lynn or Exeter City v Dagenham & R or Arlesey T

Hednesford Town or Worthing v Forest Green Rvs or Dover Ath

Blyth Spartans or Aldershot T v Tamworth

Hornchurch or Stevenage B v Burton Alb or Kettering Town

Telford Utd or Weston-S-Mare v Margate or Worksop To

Stalybridge went through in R3 after a 1-1 draw with Leigh RMI. (Leigh thrown out after playing an ineligible player). They lost to Barnet in FA Cup R1 replay. Won the Unibond in 2001 but relegated from the conference the following year.

Marine have beaten Bamber Bridge, Worcester City (Doc Martens prem)and Northwich Vics 1-0 in R3.

Cant be too bad whoever we get if they can make it this far.

I did see Southport v Burscough at New Year and didn't think the standard was as good as the Ryman or Doc Martens. Hope the pitch is better than Staffords though !!

And if we do lose, we can always whinge about a dead cert penalty being denied, the ref being their 12th man, the standard of football in their league not being as good as in ours, us having 99% of the play, them only having two shots all afternoon, us mullering them but being unlucky and... oh, I've forgotten the other things. Hang on, I'll just go over to the Stafford Rangers website and refresh my memory.

For those of you not sure where Marine are based they come from Crosby on the outskirts of Liverpool. Stalybridge is near Manchester so a long trek who ever we get!

Considering your plans for the Conference next season, you'd better get used to the travelling. Stalybridge is a nice set-up - good ground, decent surface, decent fans. Marine is somewhat run down and last time Rangers played there it was an absolute mud bath (in comparison, Marston Road on Saturday was a lawn). Realistically, you should be happy with the draw and I would expect you to beat either side without a replay.

Hmm, I think all of the above applied to Stalybridge not Canvey today.
