Which seems strange to me, as I thought they were aiming to manage at a higher level. Trent  has done with them of course

I’m sure they would have loved to but if the right offer doesn’t materialise then how long do you wait as it may never come? Managers can’t be out of the picture for too long because they do get forgotten about so I can fully understand why they’ve taken this job. Plus who says it has to be for a long period? If they do well next season then higher level clubs could be alerted and then they may get that bigger club move. But from what I know Beaconsfield are very ambitious having already spent hundreds of thousands on a new pitch and floodlights (plus that new LED advertising board wouldn’t have been cheap). With the poor crowds they get this would hardly cover the match day expenses so they’re spending thousands a week in wages too. Will be very interested to see what calibre of player B&U can attract there.

Could be a very short tenure.

Soon as a better offer higher up the pyramid comes along they will be off.

No problem with that, they are ambitious and when the chance comes along you've got to grab it with both hands.

But only if they get them promoted or minimum in the play offs otherwise what have they achieved as the club are currently mid table. No higher level club would usually take an interest if you’re not successful.

Have stayed off the forum in terms of posting as did not feel appropriate since we left , I think Scottie will back me up in saying that behind the scenes we could not have been any more helpful in the handover, and we speak daily still. I love the club, the people, and to be honest always will.

We are always ambitious, that is no secret, however I think that we have proved over the years how loyal we have also been, so to knock us and say as soon as a ‘better option’ comes up we will be off, I think is a slight on us as people.

We had an opportunity to go to a NLP club at one point in our tenure but we turned it down without even talking to them because of our loyalty to the club.

The fact is both myself and Unders love football, it is not and has never been about financial reasons, the people in the know at the club will also back that up.

In all honesty we both needed a break, and having some time out made us both realise how much we needed it, there is a lot of stress and hard work involved in non league management, especially when you are juggling full time jobs, families, personal problems etc.

However that being said we are both missing the buzz you get from football, and something we have both got from playing, and managing whether at step 2 or where I started out managing at step 6.

The Beaconsfield opportunity has come up in the last week, and whilst it has been a bit of a whirlwind, we just felt that having met the owner and the CEO that they came across great, and we felt that we could both work for/with them, and whilst we know there will be many bumps along the way, it has given us both a renewed energy.

We put a lot of time into Slough and it will always have a special place in our hearts, we were always thankful for the opportunity, but we feel as though we left a legacy at the club, and left them in a better place than when we first came in, and that is all you can ask for IMO.

Cheers Bakes

I can hand on heart say you’ve been a brilliant mentors, friends and managers to me whether that be in the past 3 months or 5 years!

It’s extremely unusual for ex managers to be the biggest help for the new manager at a club, but on this occasion it’s the truth.

I’m absolutely delighted to see you both back involved at a club where I know you’ll make your mark in the most positive of fashions, I’m sure of it.

I remember you saying a few weeks ago you wouldn’t mind a project of some sort, even if it was as low at step 4 or 5, it’s just about being at a good club and getting that buzz back for football, and Saturday afternoons!

Loyalty in football is rare, but with Bakes and Unders it’s never in question. 👊🏼

What a fantastic reply to Bakes [and Unders] !

As a Slough fan I was gutted to see Bakes and Unders leave the way they did and am thankful we got lucky when Scott and Lee took over [regardless of if Slough get relegated this seaon, which I don't believe we will but is not a forgone conclusion].

Beaconsfield have struck gold with their managerial appointment in my opinion. They need to bring more non-league fans to watch at Holloways Park and this may be a way of doing it. Slough's loss is Beaconsfield's gain. I will certainly watch them from time to time. Bet Bakes and Unders are glad they haven't a fans forum to respond to ! ha ha ha !

It strikes me that the Slough managers job has gotten to be very demanding, given the amount that has to be done with PR and council schemes etc,so I can see why the appeal of going to a 'smaller club' for Neil and Jon would attract them. I'm sure they will do well there, and truly hope they do.

No knock or slight on you as people intended.

Just the reality that if in the close season a club of the ilk of Woking, Aldershot, Farnborough etc came knocking and being that you are both ambitious surely you'd be mad to turn it down.

Unless of course your loyalty to Beaconsfield will stretch beyond your ambitions.

" We left .........them in a better place than when we first came in" Absolutely no doubt about that and a good reason to wish both men well in their new appointment.

Beaconsfield Town only have 4 home league matches left this season.

But Bakes and Unders have opportunities to show their pedigree :-

Tuesday 7th March : Weston Super Mare v Beaconsfield Town

Saturday 1st April : Beaconsfield Town v Truro City

Monday 10th April : Bracknell Town v Beaconsfield Town

I wish those three lads every success at Beaconsfield and have no doubt they will make a great success of it, as they did with us.

Time for us as a club to looks forwards and not back.

SM, your quote of 'time for us to look forwards and not back' on the surface seems the right thing to say but in reality it disguises the rubbish things that have happened.

In my mind we let Bakes and Unders go too easy and have been very fortunate to have Scott and Lee in position to take over. How many times have fans seen players promoted from within to become managers and then make a complete mess of things?

Our club is still in a relegation dogfight as last night's result testified. I'm sure, like me,you feel Slough should have enough about them to stay in this division. Well,I hope you do.

I feel, though, we can't be totally positive yet about the A23 takeover [why did Bakes and Unders choose to resign?], as the Slough fans will need to see what their intentions for our club are next season, by the signings they make, and if Scott and Lee keep their positions.

I believe people should learn from history and then find better ways of doing things, NOT sweep things under the carpet and pretend everything is rosy !

Won it with an OG after 48 minutes.

They have already started signing players as well with a well earned opportunity for Lewis Pegg from Binfield. He is an excellent player and 1 I would like to see Slough give a chance to depending on how the closed season goes. Also re-signed an ex-player and released Raven Constable (GK) and a CB (to make way for Pegg presumably).

Nice easy one next, away at top of the league Weston-Super-Mare on Tuesday night!!!!😂

Has Lewis Pegg improved that much since last season?

He was a young player that had a lot to learn and not deemed good enough to command a place in our 1st team.

Also if he has improved that much why Binfield, Met Police and now Beaconsfield?

Also if he has improved considerably why has he been playing for Binfield and now at Beaconsfield?

I thought he'd already made the move to Step 3 with Met Police from Binfield a few weeks ago, so not sure what happened there.

Left us in a much, much better place. 2 promotions, successors in place, a home in Slough and a reputation as a club with it's heart in the right place...that's some legacy.
