The 3 at the back is not working, to play that system you need balance at this level which means a left footed CB and a left footed WB. I couldn’t make it today but can I ask who played left centre back and left wing back please?

I was surprised Gabe was sub again.

Think it’s time for Scotty to take some time out of the starting 11 and watch the games to be honest.

Yeah 3-0 was harsh but poor defending and finishing cost us today. Having said that, hats off to George Alexander for them who might have put together the best individual performance against us this year. I thought their keeper was excellent too. Credit to us that we kept going until the end and didn't down tools like we did against Hungerford and Eastbourne.

From my view from in the stand we started with Joe Dandy at left centre back and James Dobson at LWB/LM.

Scott did take himself off at HT. 😅

His post-match interview will be an interesting listen.

Disappointing day to say the least. 3 individual errors didn’t give us a chance to get back into the game. The actual performance was good, a lot of chances but it was one of those days where nothing would go in.

We actually played a lop sided 3412 with Dobbo higher and wider than Josh and at times it worked really well, putting in some brilliant deliveries where we should’ve done better with the finishing.

People say that a 3 at the back doesn’t work but it worked when we were getting results. We played a back 4 Monday and lost that and performed a lot better today and dominated the ball in a 3. Not once were we cut open, it was 3 mistakes that could’ve been made in a back 3, 4 or 5 and would’ve made zero difference.

Massively disappointing and another missed opportunity to pull away from the chasing pack but no time to feel sorry for ourselves.

Agree.

Nothing to do with formation, we were the better side over most of the pitch you just can't legislate for 3 mistakes that lead to 3 goals.

Was disappointed by some of our so-called fans behind the goal regarding abuse of the referee and the linesman during the second half. Although it is

frustrating to lose in such a manner, you cant slag off the ref  and call  her a bitch just because you are losing. If we want to attract

more fans, this type of conduct does not help.

In your other post RR[summing up the game] you said that Slough were not good in both penalty areas, so it's hard to see how Slough could have been the better side?  I didn't see the match but it sounds like the result was worse than our team's actual performance. Do you think that?

Looking from the outside losing Francis Amartey so early was always going to be a big loss in Slough's chances of scoring, so to me it was always going to be a big ask to come back from 0-2 down let alone 3 !

Couple of questions to you and the fans who watched the Welling match. If Francis is out, and taking into consideration the players performance from yesterday - what Slough line up would you choose against high flying Dartford?

The other question I would like to know is how did Will Dennis play against Welling? Was he at fault for any of the goals? Did he make any important saves. Was his throwing and kicking top drawer? Just curious.

I have on an earlier thread on here said that it is nice to give out praise.

On the other side of the coin it is not pleasurable to criticise.

I'll start by saying that I thought we played some good football during those 90 minutes yesterday.

However..............................

Our defending in the first half was lamentable at times.

We cannot keep on giving goals away as we did yesterday.

I'm sure words would have been said at halftime about this, but even in the second half we should have conceded another "mickey mouse' goal.

Will Dennis lumps the ball forward into Temi's face, which  deflects the ball into the path of a Welling player,

This grateful Welling player is about to slot the ball into an unprotected  net ,when the ref blows her whistle because Temi is lying down on the floor.

If the score had been 0-0 at that point and I was a Welling fan, I would have been really unhappy at this decision.

Yes, being smacked in the face by a ball isn't nice, but does the game have to stop immediately because of this ?

I remember to this day playing football at school as a teenager in double games on a Wednesday afternoon, and just on the cusp of the full time whistle being blown being hit in the knackers by a close range shot.

The teacher (ref) blows the full time whistle and all the teachers and players walk off the pitch to the dressing rooms.

I'm left lying on the pitch on my own in agony for about 15 minutes, after which I'm able to stagger back to join the rest of them.

I can promise you I'd rather be hit in the face by a football than in the nuts.

You won't stop Refs and linesmen being abused at football, it's been done since the year dot.

If a ref of lino is in your opinion having a shocker I see nothing wrong with voicing an opinion on their performance.

Again it's where you draw the line with giving the officials some stick and what is purely abuse.

Using abusive words that are to do with colour, race or gender is totally out of order and needs to be stamped out.

You are correct RR, however some of our idiots behind the goal havent got a brain cell between them to work out that line.

I thought the ref was not the worst we've had this season but being critical I thought in general she lacked any real control and authority on the game.

She's not alone in failing to stop players time wasting until the last 10 minutes when a yellow card finally comes out.

I'm not sure what it will take for refs to get their heads around that by nipping time wasting in the bud earlier in a game would go a long way to stopping it for the remaining period of play.

I said we were the better side between both penalty areas.

It's a bit like a side having 80% possession and still losing a game.

If you leak goals and don't put away your chances you will end up losing a game regardless of what possession you have.

Personally I don't see any blame being attached to Will Dennis for any of the goals.

Other than the goals I can't remember any other saves that Will was called upon to make and no real concern with his distribution.

I remember that incident clearly and said at the time that the ref only had to wait literally a couple of seconds to see if a goal was scored.

Not sure what the score was at the time but if it was crucial to the outcome I'm sure there would have been a near riot at the decision.

On the team for Tuesday I certainly wouldn't drop any player for making one mistake that lead to a goal against Welling.

Team selection for Tuesday and if everyone is available and with Amartey looking like he could possibly be out for a few weeks, I would make two changes bringing in Louis Walsh and new signing Moe Shabaar to replace Amartey and Dobbo.
