Oxford City- Home and Away

We went with a 3412 as with Ells in front of Kuhly and Lenchy. Fleet sits in there and dictates a lot of games for them, we wanted Ell to be a nuisance and to disrupt him, which I thought he did brilliantly. The amount of work he got through yesterday was incredible, clever work too. It’s great having him in there talking to the front two like you say as he can be their eyes and ears!

Luca's cv puts has him down as a central midfielder.

As yet I think we've only played him at the back.

If he continues to improve he certainly has a good future ahead of him.

You'll be lucky to find that, I've looked but can't find it anywhere.

Im sure youre correct about that kinda suggests they didnt get their target although not many clubs will have sent as many as us.

Thanks Glen   So they fell well short of their target and Im sure we sent more than most! They did beat their previous home gate so far this season but were speaking about 750 ish  last week probably based on knowing our strong away support

I’m guessing we took 100-150 which will be more than they bring to us. I’m hoping after our first win and being a traditional big crowd fixture we can get at least 700 in.

Ill also be disappointed if we dont get a much larger gate than usual  !

It seems a bit ridiculous to have the return fixture the day after new years eve at 1 pm when it could have been played on the Monday which is a Bank Holiday.

We were the only game on Boxing Day that opted for a 1300hrs KO

New Year’s Day football is a tradition that lots of people (including me) really like.

Attendances at non league matches is usually 20% higher than average, partly because of the day & partly because it is usually a local derby.

True but there were 519 at Cheshunt 4 Concord Rangers 2 which kicked off at 12.30 pm.

Cheshunt began the season with 1-0-10 from their first eleven matches but followed that with 6-1-5 from their next twelve matches.

And it worked for us. If we win again on New Year’s Day with a 1pm kick off it would be interesting to see if we have more of them.

Well it certainly worked for Oxford they believed that 1300 hrs would produce greater attendance/revenue and achieved almost double their average home attendance so far helped a lot by the Rebels on Tour

It remains to be seen how much improvement we achieve hope fully in our present circumstances a lot.

Also interesting to note that the attendance for the Boxing Day fixture at Oxford City last season (with the same kick-off time) was 1,208. I make that a 46% drop to the 2022 attendance, and that's with them occupying 5th place at kick-off.

Looking at attendances elsewhere today, a bit of a brave decision by clubs in our league to schedule games at 3pm on a working day, but it appears to have paid off with 728 at Braintree and 1,039 at Bath. More than they would have got with an evening kickoff.

Technically it’s a working day but I would think the majority would be off work during the Xmas period?
