Oxford City- Home and Away

Alfonso was superb. Two very typical goals for him, particularly the second which he kind of materialised for himself through chasing a lost cause. If I had to be critical, he might have had a couple of assists if his final ball was a bit better today but he and Obi were a handful all game.

Our first league win for 3 months (27th Sept) against a team 5th in the play off group at KO and unbeaten in the last 8 Truly a great result and testimony to the hard work and knowledge of Scott and his team I think he will dig the Rebels out of the hole they inherited.

Brilliant result today [and I wish I could have been there to see it] but I think you're rather jumping ahead, Irishadrian, as Slough still have lots of work to do to stay in this division. Credit to Alfonso with his two goals but it's a pity we haven't got him for the rest of the season.

Certainly a great 3 points picked up,though, and a welcome boost to morale going into the January fixtures.

3spirit Im not in doubt about the amount of hard work still to be done but there is a positivity beginning to emerge Its only a while ago some players had their heads down and shoulders sloped when things werent going  well Scott is giving players confidence and self belief imo.

Unbelievable result and really pleased for Scotty.

With our only remaining listed central defender in Matt Hall missing through illness, no right back and only young Gabe as a recognized left back makes this an even more remarkable win.

But lets not get carried away, this is only one win and all the hard work and challenges we face to pull away from the lower reaches of the table are still to come.

Great result.

Well done you rebels!!

Disappointed to have missed this one but so happy and relieved to finally get that elusive win. Must admit I really wasn’t confident before the game when we had just one recognised defender (still not sure why Scott brought in another striker and not a defensive player?). But it sounds like a real dug in, team effort today and hopefully we can start a mini unbeaten run now.

It's been mentioned before that although this is a very welcome 3 points and hopefully the start of a run of wins, sides below us are starting to put a run together.

Cheshunt picked up another 3 points, along with Chippenham and Hungerford picked up a point and we've played more games than all the other clubs around us.

The fight to maintain our NLS status is only just starting.

With Toggs coming back I suppose the Matt Hall illness and Luca Woodhouse injury caught us on the hop with little time to get someone else in to cover.

LEM is a mate of Scotts so an obvious one to fill a gap for the day.

From what I’ve seen of Luca I think he’s decent and has great potential (although sadly not with us!). So hopefully Luca, Josh and Matt will all be available to play on Sunday which will significantly strengthen our starting line up. Just hope we can get a half decent crowd in (hoping around 750).

But no Tenconi which will be a big loss.

Thought the lads were at it from the off yesterday making a nuisance of themselves especially up front all match and not letting them settle at all.

Their keeper was saying to his centre backs a few times in the first half try to calm down and play but they weren’t having it due to being closed down and hassled by the lads.

Lots of unselfish running yesterday all over the park helped set that for us, the attitude was spot on and the work rate excellent.

More of the same New Years Day, we’ll have them again, happy for everyone involved particularly Scott. 👍

LEM  scored 3 for us in 8 games at the end of 2017 which led to the play off game with Leamington

Morning everyone! Thanks for all the nice comments but certainly not getting carried away.

Was a huge and unexpected win, and throughly deserved too in my opinion.

With regards to Liam, I signed him on Friday for cover for yesterday if we found ourselves behind in the game and wanted to be more direct. I could have put Connor Jeanes in the squad but had there been an injury after 5 minutes and he had to come on, then he’s not match fit.

Sam and Liam who came into the squad have started almost 50 games between them this season so would have been able to come on and cope physically with the demands of the game and intensity if called upon.

Liam was just a stop gap for yesterday, he offered his services as he had no game and wanted some Boxing Day football!

Hope to see as many of you at AP on New Year’s Day! Thanks again everyone. 👍🏼

Alfonso makes such a difference to how we play, coupled with Ogo’s pace and power they are a problem for anyone…

Just wish we could keep Alfonso longer and hopefully Arnie can take over the mantle NYD…

One thing I did think was a stroke of genius yesterday was Benyon playing behind Alfonso and Ogo directing, encouraging them and working tirelessly himself. Not every game will allow it but I’d like to see that tactic again with Ells also dropping in to midfield to help Kuhl and Lench.

Scotty, was the tactic to use Ells in the hole in game or pre-game as I’m sure we started with 3 up top but adapted

Luca's cv puts has him down as a central midfielder.

As yet I think we've only played him at the back.

If he continues to improve he certainly has a good future ahead of him.

Did anyone get todays attendance? Thank You

You'll be lucky to find that, I've looked but can't find it anywhere.
