Thank you Board for the statement, that is more like it, maybe a little earlier next time and you will beat the speculation.

In my years of experience handling communications you can never beat the speculation. Either you communicate early and start rumours and get criticised for not having all the details yet. Or you hold on and get criticised for late communications.

In this case it would seem somebody who we are not progressing with has reacted badly to that.

Looking at his tweets I wouldn't want him in charge. Very intemperate.

I guess the other thing that needs to be understood but doesn't always sit right is when someone or a business wants to take over or invest but they are just the front man and the concern is who/what is behind the money but want to stay hidden for whatever reason.

I've had that elsewhere and it always raises concerns as you just don't know what the real motive is.

That's why the club have got to do their due diligence and not rush into anything regardless of supporters impatience.

Completely agree, how many football clubs or other sports clubs have we seen change hands and end up going south after what seemed to be a good deal at the time.

The cloak & dagger secrecy is what encourages the rumour mill. Steve Easterbrook was a master as nipping these things in the bud whilst keeping the confidence of the supporters , but without going into intricate detail.

I suppose it was just a little galling that we found out about this not from the club, but from some idiot who shouted his mouth off on twitter.

As I said above, that's the trouble with things like this - it's impossible to win. The idiot has no rules to stick by but the club have to handle everything properly. If they had said "we're looking into some investment options" the rumour mill would have gone crazy, just like it does with potential players and people would have complained that they were communicating when too much was unknown. Wait until things are clearer then you get accused of communicating a fait accompli. The board could not win in my opinion.

I think you have put it spot on RB. The club in this situation is always going to be between the devil and the deep blue sea, damned if they do and damned if they dont.

Reading the statement it seems like there might be some interesting news in the not too distant future so hopefully that news can help come the new year and steer the club into the future. Time will tell.
