In the big scheme of things there are bigger things to worry about than a football club.

I keep an open mind about most issues and have never had any qualms with those running our club and still haven't.

The trouble with these days, is that everything becomes about making money and profit.

Here in sunny Slough, we have a football club with a history and a fairly new stadium - council owned and a small but dedicated following of 500 plus fans, with loads more tagging along when glory games happen. The town is well known across the country and the club has received good publicity through fa cup runs and climbing back up the leagues. The club have no debts, so we are told.

Who buys football clubs?   People who see potential but people who also want to make money.Very few buy them to keep them as they are. Similar to when people buy pubs often turning a good local into a gastropub and killing it's character.

No one has a crystal ball to know whether this new consortium will be a good thing for our club. It reminds me of Alan Thorne[ex Millwall chairman] and his takeover of Slough Town FC/Wexham Park stadium, and the involvement of local known football scout Bob Pearson. That happened out of the blue but with lots of rumours/gossip happening beforehand,in the days before social media.

It would be good if our board can come clean, sooner rather than later, to lay out the full facts of this takeover to Slough fans, and restore the trust/faith we've had in them since Steve Easterbrook left.

I think the other thing people want these days (of social media and the internet) is everything now. You want the news of the day, you don't wait until 6pm or 10pm on the TV, you log onto the internet and get it now, same with sport etc. It's live up to the minute coverage of everything.

If you then bring that down to a local non-league football team, people still want everything now, as opposed to the days you are talking about above when people would have to wait for a club announcement or the Skough Express / Observer on a Wednesday / Friday.

I agree with those that say about being patient and for those commenting about "do you just have blind faith in the board etc", yes I do. Why should I not? What have they done (factually not speculation) to break that trust / faith? Nothing for me as a supporter of the team and the club. We have a decent squad and a potentially IMO excellent young manager in place with loads of football contacts that if takeovers and things happen should be in a position to keep us in the league currently. If there isn't a takeover / money appear, then hopefully the squad we have, when fit, can achieve that same goal.

What I can be certain of is those in charge of the club are both doing their best and doing it for the good of STFC and as long as they are in charge, lets let them crack on and I'm sure that once there is something to say, they will do.

Thank you for your input to this debate.

Sums up views of most fans, can't be fu*ked about what happens to the club!

Slough population 120,000

STFC fans 650, or 0.5 percent of population

Fans active on this forum debating the future 20, or 0.0016 percent of the population.

At least the few that are on here are passionate enough to care what happens!

So because I haven't come on here to express my views on what is going on means that I don't give a   ****   about what happens to the club ?

And the fact that you have, proves that you are so much more a passionate supporter of the club than others?

Do you really think that ?

I can't speak for others, but I personally do not get this mentality that everything that I think has to be announced to the world via twitter or bloody facebook or other outlets.

I make the occasional comment on this forum, but  don't for one second think that a lack of a comment on here about this topic means that I don't care what happens to the club.

I thought the club have already said that things are progressing and when they are able to they will 'come clean'.

Most fans are naturally impatient to hear some good news but SF is right we need to be patient and have more trust and faith in the Board to get things right for the good of the club.

Agree with what you say here, SloughFlyer.

I'm not trying to stir up anything. I only chipped in on this debate when new forumites started saying they knew about this new consortium and how great it is,when it is obvious a lot of regular Slough fans [myself included] don't have a clue what is going on.

At my time of life I can't say I'm bothered one way or the other. The club and those that run it will do what they like anyway, regardless of a few fans objections.

I wondered if there might be connection to Reading FC in this takeover, given that Scott is so enthusiastic about it but that is just a guess. It could be that this consortium will want a higher profile ex professional player as their manager long term like a Sol Campbell or a Dean Austin type. Who knows?

What will be, will be.

Alan Brazil as bar manager

Scott will make a great manager - wait and see

Richard, I think we all want Scott to be a great success which in turn should mean we as supporters will get our wish and that is to retain our hard earned status as a National League South club.

TBF to Scott he is new to his role as a manager and has come in at probably the worst possible time for a rookie manager to take charge of a  football club at this level.

There's no doubt Scott will give it his all but this division is unforgiving and time will tell if 'giving his all' will be enough to save our season.

He has a huge task on his hands but if he succeeds he will richly deserve all the plaudits he will get from the club and supporters.
