Just one other thing Richard, don't mistake a football forum [where positives and negatives can be shared] for back slapping and sucking up to those that run our football club. A forum has a duty to allow Slough Town fans to express their opinions in whatever way they feel,as long as they keep within the boundaries/rules of the forum.

I suggest you look at the Woking or Aldershot forum, if you think this one is bad !

Most of us come in peace but we always get a few agitators ha ha !

Fully agree and you make very valid points.

For me, the recent changes at the Club after several years of stability and over achieving are a worry to us fans. I have given my time time to support club via the Trust to ‘do my bit’ so to speak. Running the club requires a lot of money.

lack of info from Club really does grind with supporters and many believe they need to be told personally. I like to know because I care massively. This was lacking initially.

However, reality is a much bigger picture exists and investors or other options need to be identified and a mass of work and discussions follow. The path forward can only be based on what is on offer.

There is an element of ‘in the board we must trust’ because even the loyal fans will not have a solution, short or long term, even if we put forward some money collectively.

Some question and goad by asking ‘are they the right people on the board’ for these discussions. Time will tell, but they certainly have years of experience and know more about the club running than others. I expect they would take guidance where needed on any agreements and perhaps with them also being supporters, an agreement may also change the board structure.

without a deal, simply realigning our position will not achieve what fans would like. Fans 100% DO NOT want to be playing at a lower level with even smaller crowds.
I sincerely hope the board see it that way and secure a positive and diligent way forward.

Happy to discuss anything with anyone in the bar pre or post game and from a trust perspective put forward comments to the club

Succinctly put Richard.

Only one thing to disagree you on is that 'Fans 100% DO NOT want to be playing at a lower level'

There will always be the few exceptions who for various and sometimes personal reasons don't care what level we are playing at as long as Slough Town exists as a football club.

Totally agree on existence.

I know how hard and long it took to get back to this level through everyone’s efforts,  and to a level that is well recognised within the pyramid. Just don’t want to see it go.

Totally agree.

A lot of blood sweat and tears has gone into getting us back to this level in a new ground and would be a travesty if it all went pear shaped.

Thank you Richard

Nothing to worry about then, it is all rosy and the club is safe, and with a far wind we should be in the playoffs, if not pushing for the league winners spot, and all done by Boxing Day.

Positive enough?

Hi Sir Rebel. I like your new found positiveness.

if you could do all that, myself and no doubt every other Slough supporter on this planet would be overjoyed. Thank you so much.

You know clearly where we are and like us all, care greatly. We don’t want to lose everything we’ve regained.

I’ll happily ‘chip in’ but we still need something bigger. Even a fan led package / suggestion would need major investment.

I think we all want what’s best for the club of that there is no doubt; some have ideas, some have general opinions, some reckon they know the inside track and others haven’t a clue but think they have and can be critical of all that’s going on.

What I will say and can promise the supporters is that having spoken first hand to someone at the heart of the club and very much involved and up to speed with what’s going on behind the scenes is that everything is fine and we are in safe hands.

Things are all in hand and the future will be bright and I believe everyone will be happy with what’s coming and the future going forward.
Takeovers take time but it’s coming, a big ask but trust the process, it will be good for the club from top to bottom. 👍

Excellent news Donny.

I look forward to hearing the good news from the club in the near future.

Hi Donny,

That is great to hear, it sounds as though from what you are saying, there are advanced negotiations with a single party.

If so, the continued ‘limited’ secrecy (not generally announcing, but apparently happy to tell people around the club that ask questions) is somewhat bizarre. Who is it requesting the secrecy?

I wouldn’t have thought anyone looking to takeover a football club would be publicity shy, and the current club board are custodians of the club & I would have thought they would want to be transparent & keep their fan base interested & engaged.

In addition, both parties would be better placed if they controlled the narrative and made a joint formal announcement, rather than someone of what would appear to be a growing number of people with inside information blurts it out at some point soon (for clarification, although I have been a season ticket holder for several seasons, I have no idea what is going on & really don’t want to find out through a whisper at the match on Saturday).

Hi Curtis

Totally get what you are saying and I'm no different but I guess I count myself extremely fortunate that apart from being a season ticket holder and hearing things from others and around the terraces, I also have been at most of the training sessions over the last few months as my lad has been training with the 1st Team and Rhys especially so I hear plenty from around the club and so on.

As I've openly said I'll never betray a trust of what I hear, see or am told unless its made official by the club or the Management team first hence why I've mentioned no names or details of the potential new investors or what the current state of play is.

I'm certain myself that it will be good for the club as a whole and all I can do is be honest and as open as possible when I say again its all in hand and the club will be fine going forward in my humble opinion.

No disrespect mean't DonnyNo6 but the problem is you know more about our club having only just arrived with your player son than genuine Slough Town fans who have been following the club for donkeys years through thick and thin. That can't be right can it?

I've been watching what's been happening at Hampton and Richmond FC and their takeover. They have new owners and they pretty much left the supporters out of the know, there as well. To me this is a way of alienating true fans.

Could this be another reason why we have lost our joint managers of 9 plus years?

A genuine Slough Town fan who saw his first match at the age of 10 years old, I'm now 53!

Think that also classes as Donkeys Years!

My son was asked to go training by Bakes and Unders, nothing to do with me per say, he's only 17 but highly regarded hence why Scott and Rhys have asked him to carry on and he now warms Rhys up on match days.

Yes I saw him at the Havant home game. He looks older than 17 !

Apologies if I got 'the wrong end of the stick' so to speak but as you are a fairly newcomer to this forum [with your alias] it struck me as odd that a select few have inside knowledge while the rest of us mere mortals are being kept in the dark. I hate all this secrecy crap it doesn't lead to good relations or trust among fans/the board.

It’s a horrible feeling being a concerned, many year supporter who knows nothing about what is going on.

However, the board cannot be expected to give fans updates on every option that is on the table (or not) when they are being discussed and evaluated. It’s about sourcing the right package for the club for now, the future and the aims of the football on the pitch.

of course. As supporters we don’t want a situation where we are saying- you agreed what,  that’s a shocking deal and if you had only embraced the supporters during the process we could have helped deliver something much better. The club will still need volunteers

Thought there were NDA's in place to stop the leaking of information?

However it does look like some are getting information and the majority are being treated differently, it stinks of old boys club.

"Given the highly sensitive and confidential nature of these discussions - and the fact that things can change very quickly even when close to completing a deal - we have not been able to be as forthcoming as our supporters would like."

Unless you happen to be chatting to one of the board at training.
