Taunton home FA Trophy match

We’ve gone from having 19 players to choose from to scraping together 15 for tonight which includes 3 who have yet to play this season. Talk about up against it! If we win tonight it’ll be some achievement.

Hey if they’re good enough they’re young enough…

Up against it is exactly what we are but we’ll give it a right go! Bushy played with me at Biggleswade and is as honest as they come. A proper old school centre half who will come in and help out tonight. Sam Shaw played for Hartley Wintney last season, Uxbridge at the beginning of this one and is a good little footballer. Ben Long has been unattached for a couple of months, but is England 6 a side captain so is forever flying around the world with them playing tournaments. Fit as a fiddle and is always one that’s up for a battle which I’m expecting it to be.

3 people I can trust who have come in to do a job at the last minute.

Fingers crossed we can give a good account of ourselves!

I've seen Bushy play before, as good as gold. 👍

Remarkable result really and one which shows us all that Scotty has the attributes contacts and experience to be a great Slough manager Im not unhappy to be out of this cup let Scotty have a clear run at preserving our status in the NLS Not happy with the Taunton post match  interview  we are accused of lying about the state of the pitch on Sat citing its use in the morning as the reason for their belief.

Considering the circumstances I thought it was an excellent and gutsy performance from the players.

Taunton were no great shakes on the night and were there for the taking but for their keeper making some excellent match winning saves.

We conceded early on to what must of been the softest goal I've seen when a player was allowed to turn and a half hit shot seemed to trickle over the line.

We had chances to equalize before half time with the best chance falling to Alfonso Tenconi who put his effort wide with only the keeper to beat.

We were on the front foot for most of the second half and when Taunton had a man sent off for a dangerously high tackle we laid siege to their goal and a combination of missed chances and their keeper making some blinding saves prevented us from having a trip to sunny Torquay.

TBH I'm not overly concerned about not progressing in the Trophy, with clubs below us picking up points this will have done us a favor and  allow us to concentrate on the mammoth task ahead of maintaining our status as an NLS club.

On the surface a poor gate of 299 but understandable taking all the factors into account.

Yes it’s a disappointing attendance but Taunton understandably brought hardly any, it’s a cold midweek near to Xmas, we’re on one of our worst runs in a long time. The semi casual fan just isn’t going to be attracted currently. Let’s hope we hear some very good news soon

All the above and pay on the gate so even some of the die hards are probably prioritizing with xmas on the doorstep and all that's going on with the cost of living.
