New Signings

I think Ogo is a brilliant signing for us. I think 3spirit will be able to confirm my opinion of him and how long I've held it for ;)

The young lad "from Sunderland" is an interesting short term signing. Listed as a right winger and perhaps someone around to give us some cover until the return of Goddard.

The evolution of the squad continues and with Ogo, we have massively improved on Ben Harris so thats a good forward step.

Hopefully we can extend Arnie to the end of the season (I believe he has to do that now or return to Wycombe as I think you can only have 2 short term loans in a season, anyone knows any better?). So that would give us Ogo, Elliot, Arnie as strikers and then loans / younger lads (I consider Imran now a winger now a striker).

NB - if Benyon does not start playing and scoring he needs to go ASAP, with his shoulder, back and illness we can't afford to carry anyone currently so looking to see a marked improvement from him or thats a move that needs to happen IMO.

I agree that Ogo is an upgrade on Ben and that Elliot needs to prove himself quickly as so far for me I’ve not seen this player that others apparently see in him! Hopefully we can sign a couple more in the mould of Ogo, plus the returning players and we’ll suddenly have a much stronger squad to choose from.

Matt Lench is back but don't thing Goodard or Joe Dandy are back yet.

They didn't train last night so pretty sure they are out for tomorrow.

There is much talk about the returning players but I think we need to be mindful of performances prior to them not playing. Dandy has had a good season thus far IMO and will certainly strengthen us defensively. Lench and Goddard really need to up their performances and certainly their output of goals and assists from prior to them being out suspended and injured respectively. I'd also add Benyon into this as well. Hopefully the little break for Lench will help and Goddard can come back and up his output as well.

Agree that on the surface Ogo looks a good signing but apart from when we played Hemel has anyone seen him play more than once?

Good pedigree when a youth player and was thought he was good enough to make it into the football league but doesn't seem to have progressed as everyone predicted.

11 starts in 20 appearances for Hemel scoring 5 goals.

He’s their top scorer apparently! Maybe I should keep quiet until I’ve seen him play but for me this is an exciting signing and one I wasn’t expecting so thumbs up to all involved especially the new investor!

Evening. The new signings are cup tied, yes. Not ideal. Obviously we want to go as far as we can in the trophy but retaining our conference south status is main priority.

I’ve looked at the squad for next Saturday and we are pretty thin with regards to strength in depth at the moment but it’s something that I’m working on. There’s also a young lad who is coming home for Christmas who might make a few appearances before heading back to university in January…

Delighted with the Ogo signing. Nobody else will be leaving, I’m pretty sure of that. Aaron Kuhl has been extremely loyal, he’s had offers but has chosen to sign a contract through til the end of the season. Great news for us!

I read one post about Josh Jackman, people like Josh don’t even consider leaving for one second. I believe now that all the lads we have are on board and pulling in one direction!

Delighted with what we have, but could add one more in the next week if we wanted but we won’t do it for the sake of it with Jonny and Joe not far away.

Thanks for your support so far and fingers crossed for a good one tomorrow.

Football and Me : The Ogo Obi Story

IMO we should all Google the above for a very clear picture of our new man from boyhood to a contract at Cardiff with a company flat and staff to launder his kit and clean his boots  brief stays at a number of local clubs to being Hanwells leading scorer when Covid closed us all down right up to now .

It’s down to us now to all get behind Scott and the lads more than ever, they’ll put the work in on the pitch, we need to match on the terraces.

I for one believe in the process Scott is working on, he’s working his arse off to sort the situation out squad wise and I firmly believe it’s coming, I’ve genuinely no doubt we’ll be fine going forward.

Come on Slough! 🔶🔷

RR - saw him 5-6 times for Hanwell last year and obviously the Hemel game this. When Tom Derry left last season I wanted Neil and Jon to go after him as a replacement. I think he'll do really well, he is strong and qucik, decent in the air and knows where the goal is. As a replacement for Ben Harris its a big upgrade IMO. Will be interesting to see how he fits in and what impact he makes.
