Not great but I guess it’s a middle pot game where it could have been worse. Advantage is it’s at home instead of a long trek. Hopefully by this game we’ll still be unbeaten, have 2 or 3 new very good players signed and have all injured/suspended players back… no pressure D-W-T!

Not sure where the money's coming from to sign 2/3 very good players Glen?

‘Very good players’ doesn’t have to mean they’re coming from the same level or above! As Scott said he’s looking at a few decent youngsters at step 3 and 4 and I hope we’ll hear something this week.

On the subject of money, I can't remember the details of when and how much, but weren't we supposed to get a lump sum windfall from the premier league?

It’s all been spent on Bakes & Unders severance pay.

I know it's said in jest Glen, but I seem remember Bakes and Unders saying that they never took a wage only expenses.

We weren’t told why they resigned? As I’ve already said… good players from lower down don’t necessarily cost a lot. This is where Scott has said he’s looking at which makes sense.

Trouble is the good players from lower divisions are on the radar of a lot of clubs higher up who can pay more money than us.

Unless of course it suits a player work wise or location wise.

It’s not always down to cold cash especially younger players as they want to progress. It’s more likely the late 20’s onwards players who maybe realise they’re not going to ‘make it’ and are purely looking for the best deal whatever division or club it is. Plus these young players from 1 or 2 leagues below may well see the 3 currently in charge and want to play for them as they respect them and have heard great things about them. Also they may get a much higher chance of progressing with us rather than somewhere else as other squads may contain 25+ players whereas we have a small group and if in form should keep your place.

Who are the good players they have in their team currently 3spirit (bear in mind you still have Elliot Buchanan as a quality player that could play well for us, and he is rubbish at southern prem level)?

Regardless of the manager or players, Uxbridge are a mid-table, step 4 side and we should beat them the same way as we beat a mid-table step 3 side on Saturday (thats if we even draw them, which after all this discussion is clearly not going to happen LOL)

Having just looked at the draw, I'm not sure if there is even a lower team left in the competition than Uxbridge.

SloughFlyer, is that the same Elliot Buchanan who got Man Of The Match for Beaconsfield the other Saturday[26th November] against league leaders Weston-Super- Mare and got the winning goal, as well as hitting the post and crossbar !

It would not be at all surprising if you can not find a club in the FA Trophy 3rd Round draw from a division at a step below Uxbridge.

Uxbridge are in Isthmian League South Central division which is step 4.

Clubs below step 4 compete in the FA Vase!!!

And of course, Uxbridge are bottom of their league so no-one can be lower than them?????????? Oh no, hang on..........

The Elliott Buchanan of old would have scored a hat-trick and not fluffed his chances by hitting the post and crossbar  😉

In all seriousness, I haven't seen him play for a couple of seasons and we don't know his circumstances but I would have though if Elliott Buchanan was still good enough he would be playing at a higher level in the NLS than playing for Beaconsfield in the Southern Prem.

You could say that about any player playing in a lower division,RR. Sometimes it's just taking a chance like Slough have done tonight with Jefferson Louis, and bringing in Matt Hall, the centre half in from Met Police who has yo-yoed from NLS clubs to lower division Biggleswade. I don't write off experienced players I've seen good things from, just because they are playing in a lower division. Elliot Buchanan may not be as good as he was but I still believe he would score goals at our level with the right service and the right man alongside him.

I suppose you and SloughFlyer would prefer Ben Harris and Elliot Benyon for another year ! ha ha!

Had you been at the bottle when you posted this 3spirit. Changing out players that arent scoring at our level, for more players of the shame type at our level that won't score goals isn't really what we need!!!

Its Benyon and Harris over Louis and Buchanan every day of the week and twice on Sunday's, HOWEVER, the good news is, thats not the choices. You seriously need to get to Beaconsfield and watch Buchanan once this season (thats all it'll take) to see what I've been saying. Speaking of that, and new signings, just check back to 19th October 2021 on your PM's ;)

To be fair SloughFlyer you did say to me that Ogo Obi would strengthen Slough back in 2021. Let's cross our fingers that he does the business for the Rebels.

On Elliot Buchanan we will have to agree to disagree.

I feel sorry for Bakes and Unders that they had to put up with not being able to sign anyone noteworthy latterly this season, and now they've gone, suddenly the floodgates have opened. Why they went with Ben Harris for as long as they did, God only knows but with most of their other signings they were on the ball and proved successful [other than Elliot Benyon yet but he may well come good for us]. I hope Scott has the same midas touch, too.

I'm slightly concerned that we are changing too many players too soon but it does feel exciting to have an influx of experienced non-leaguers coming into our ranks, and before Scott and Lee took over things, the Slough approach to games had become quite formulaic and felt staid. Something needed to change but I didn't expect it to be our joint managers leaving.

I think Neil & Jon were shopping in a different aisle to Scott & Lee. Neil & Jon we’re aiming for the play offs so the players wages would have been higher than what we’re currently looking at.

Well, not latterly it wasn't, as they kept bringing in short term loans.

Possibly because the permanent signings they wanted were too expensive?

Maybe but as someone just pointed out to me, Scott will have more money to recruit players now that Neil,Jon, Trent, Manny,Guy, George, Fabio and Ben have left.
