FA Trophy 3rd round proper

Pretty certain it's still regionalised.

As far as who we want to draw I'm a bit on the fence with this.

Do we go for a big club and get a decent amount of money from the game now or do we go for a smaller club with possibly a better chance of getting through but with less money in the coffers and also the chance of going out.

We've also got to factor in the league and with our current small squad can we afford to have a run in the Trophy at the possible detriment of league performances?

I think the biggest home crowd we could get would be Maidenhead or Woking with both having the potential to attract around 1,500. But bearing in mind we split the gate it’s not going to be a money spinner plus quite likely we’d get beat. So I’d prefer a so called lesser team away so we have no expenses to pay, get half the gate money plus a decent chance of progressing.

Uxbridge next round would be decent get through that obstacle then Wrexham or Notts County away for the ££££

Spot on with Uxbridge FF. Went there Tuesday night last week in their 2-0 loss to Leatherhead and they struggled like mad against a patchy Leatherhead side.

At this stage, the prize money is key for the club, so Uxbridge at home would be ideal I'd say. Then we can worry about the next round later.

But it’s a cup game and another potential banana skin plus they would have played a few rounds to get to this stage so can’t be no mugs? Plus being a local derby they’d be well up for it.

Glen, may I direct you to my post in the Hanwell thread from Wednesday evening ;).

We would be too strong by far for Uxbridge as we were for Hanwell, especially with Hollis, Kuhl, Benyon, Hunt and Goddard all back from injury (potentially), hopefully a settled management team by then and potentially some new talent in the squad as well (assuming no cup tied issues).

So how do you explain Uxbridge getting a credible draw against Dover and scoring more penalties than them?

I don't want to draw Uxbridge as their manager is Danny Edwards and he is not a mug. They also have several good players in their team, and many of them would be up for causing an upset as a few have played for Slough, and some of their players know a few of ours.

Better to get a home draw against a lesser team that don't know much about the current Slough.

3spirit most teams rally on the day know matter the difference in leagues they may fall in for a one of cup game.    I have also watched Uxbridge this season and even though the Uxbridge team would be up for it I would be confident Slough would match that effort as a starter, the gaffers would make sure of that, I would then expect our quality to be superior like yesterday.

Well,of course, a higher up division side should in theory beat a team lower down. All I'm saying is I would prefer Slough not to play Uxbridge in the next round. I agree we ought to be able to beat them if we drew them, as many of their players are on the way down and we have superior players to them but as a derby match I think it would be a harder game than against Hanwell, and Uxbridge have some wily experienced players in their squad, who would love to upset the odds.

Who are the good players they have in their team currently 3spirit (bear in mind you still have Elliot Buchanan as a quality player that could play well for us, and he is rubbish at southern prem level)?

Regardless of the manager or players, Uxbridge are a mid-table, step 4 side and we should beat them the same way as we beat a mid-table step 3 side on Saturday (thats if we even draw them, which after all this discussion is clearly not going to happen LOL)

Having just looked at the draw, I'm not sure if there is even a lower team left in the competition than Uxbridge.

I can't be bothered to say anymore.

I would have been worried about Taunton away since they are one of only  two teams unbeaten in our league at home which is mostly why they're a point above us Theyve managed just a single away league win so Im not unhappy with that draw although lower level would have been ideal  They put DH out off the trophy .

Their league game tonight with DH is off  3 days rain has made it unplayable

Not great but I guess it’s a middle pot game where it could have been worse. Advantage is it’s at home instead of a long trek. Hopefully by this game we’ll still be unbeaten, have 2 or 3 new very good players signed and have all injured/suspended players back… no pressure D-W-T!
