I think the board need to communicate with us fans and be open and up front with the current situation the club finds itself in. Otherwise rumours just keep spreading which does no good to anyone. If the fans knew the truth then we could work together to sort out a pathway.

100% agree with that Glen. The open lines of communications set out by Neil and Jon need to be built upon, not destroyed and everything be smoke and mirrors. I'm sure the board are currently digesting the situation and hopefully will communicate as much as possible with all of us ASAP.

An affordable budget was set at the beginning of the season and as we've been told has not been exceeded.

Sounds like it's just extra funds that we are lacking to improve the playing side to enable us to steer clear of relegation and climb the table.

I wouldn’t be so sure… the budget was increased from last season. Who’s to say the club based this season’s budget on crowds of 700 and an FA Cup run to the 4th Qualifying Round? Hopefully the budget won’t be cut because if it is then relegation is a real possibility.

Any club basing it's seasons' budget on any sort of FA Cup run without back-up emergency finance is asking for trouble (and often gets it).

Thing is Glen you can only believe what you're told by the hierarchy and that is we are not in any debt.

Going by the joint statement on the Slough Town FC website, I thought it inferred that the club could be looking to go down a division to save on costs. Bakes and Unders would not be willing to do that,as both are ambitious to manage at a higher level.  It seems to me, if this is the way the club needs to go, then parting with our dynamic duo[Bakes and Unders] was always going to be likely.

You’d be surprised how many clubs actually do though!

Tell me about it, as they say nowadays. One year at Horsham at Step 3 we reached the Second Round of the FA Cup and were fortunate to have both matches televised. That TV money helped us just about break even over the season!

Problematic/risky if true. "Consolidating in the league below" can easily become a very self-fulfilling slippery journey down the leagues.

Just read it again in case I missed something but to me it just infers that to be competitive i.e. not struggling and towards the top half possibly play-offs end of the table we would need to have an increased budget which the club cannot afford in the present climate.

That's the impression I get, & not something I could see being at all palatable to Bakes & Unders after all their hard work getting two promotions.

If this is not the case, then please could at least one Board member come on here and state so, or make an official Club statement saying all efforts will be made to stay in the National South this season.

I think it would be unpalatable to 99.99% of Slough fans.

Even if there were money problems I really don't see why we wouldn't do our best to stay in the NLS as long as we don't get ourselves into debt.

Would make sense as to why they resigned. After all the years and hard work it took to get back to this level it’ll be devastating if we get relegated. Plus it’s not like we would then be competitive and have a good chance of challenging from step 3, I think we’d be on a slippery slope down the leagues. Our better players will leave, the budget would be cut, admission prices would have to be reduced and there are still some big spending teams at step 3.

But if we’re only getting crowds of 500 for the remainder of the season it’s probably not enough to sustain the current budget. Quick maths… 500 - 200 Season Ticket holders who have already paid leaves 300 fans paying let’s say an average of £10 each. So £3,000 per game, add in say another £500 drink/food profit? Any advertising revenue I’m sure has already been spent and we hardly get any match day sponsorship so I wouldn’t include that. So I’d say between £1,500-£2,000 is needed to top up the playing budget which is obviously not sustainable if crowds stay around 500 mark.

If the club advertises its vacancy and interviews applicants one imagines that it's going to have to make clear to them what funds will be available to them and what they will be expected to achieve with them.

You would expect and hope so, oherwise the relationship won’t last long at all! I think all us fans just hope we stay up this season that has to be the new sim now. Just hope the financials aren’t that bad because we can’t exactly cut the squad much further.
