As I said by the time the board advertise, approach candidates and interview this proximate take a month which gives the three time to get results and put their hats in the ring. Obviously giving the job to all or 1 or 2 of the interim 3 would be the easiest and cheapest option but I’m really hoping to see some decent names linked.

Sorry Glen, didn't see your post when I wrote mine.

Just to clear up a few things, as you know we hate people to speculate things that are not facts, we are not going anywhere have not spoken to a single club, and is a decision we have made over the last week, after much deliberation.

We will be taking a much deserved break.

The players were told tonight.

A fuller statement will come from the club and us tomorrow.

So you’re saying the managers were being unprofessional by not giving it their all because they knew they were going to resign? I think after all these years we should know they’re not that type of people.

How much do you think Neil, Jon and Trent was earning???

More than what Lee, Scott and Manny will get I expect.

Always good to have a break, Neil but why dont you and Jon go for the Aldershot job?

As gutted as I am, and loads of other Slough fans are, I'm sure you and Unders would be a good fit for Aldershot. Mind you they don't seem to have a lot of money either !

I'm saddened you both felt you had to quit the Slough managers job but I don't expect you came to the decision lightly. Wish you all the best whatever you both do next. You've both been a credit to Slough Town FC, and as a spectator given me plenty of high's with your team selections and play/tactics on the pitch.

Don’t want to speculate as we don’t know anything yet. Whatever the reason they have gone I am gutted .
I will always be a proud Slough supporter whoever is in charge  but Neil and John lifted that to a new level . With Steve Easterbrook At the helm bringing them in and then getting a ground back in Slough we have had a brilliant decade.
Mark jokingly said the fans have lost half their songs but there is a reason why the fans sing so much about them.  They are both committed professional decent people , who happen to be our managers .
I would rather be back playing in the Dog and duck league with them than in the football league with someone I didn’t respect .

if it’s their choice to go and they need a rest I wish them well and thank them for leaving us two leagues higher than when they found us . I hope they don’t think they have to make some honourable gesture because of recent results , form is temporary , class is ever present and we have always been a class act under Bakes and Unders , win , lose or draw .
Won’t be quite the same a Maidenhead tomorrow night but I’ll still be there.

I think there will be loads of applications but Danny Robinson is not a bad shout.

Why would he swap Hungerford for Slough? Makes no sense.

Really? Do you not think Slough are a bigger club than Hungerford with larger  support, potential and history. Plus compare the grounds! Ok wages/budget wise they may be comparable.

Beat me to it Glen.

Most managers with ambition want to manage at as bigger club as possible and whichever way you look at it Slough are bigger than Hungerford.

Very sad to hear that 2 of the best managers the club have ever had have left. You have given us such fantastic memories that we will never forget.

Not only great managers but also very approachable, which is a great quality.

On a personal note i would like to thank both Jon and Neil for bringing so much joy into my dad's life. My dad ( Bim Elliott ) sadly passed away last year  after supporting the rebels for 85 years. He lived for Slough Town and although suffering with his health especially with dementia it was the thought of the success you both brought back to the club and that you also took time to come over and say hello to him, something he always mentioned and made his final years a little bit more comfortable.

So many thanks for giving us such great memories and wish you well for the future.

Well,as Danny Robinson has moulded and shaped Hungerford in the last two seasons and brought players to the club, and that they have just beaten Slough, why would he? Plus he now knows the Hungerford set up and his bosses. Losing two joint managers in the calibre of Bakes and Unders in their resignations, is hardly an endorsement to a manager already employed by a club in the same division, in my opinion. Unless Slough could often him more money, why would he bother?

Beating us on Saturday and the quality of managers leaving us would mean nothing in his decision making.

As above, ambition and a bigger club.

I know the reasons/excuses that will be trotted out but still disappointed that they've jumped ship.

Hopefully some of the players stay loyal but I doubt it.

Jumped ship? Are you on a wind up?

Nearly 10 years they served with honour and jumped ship is what you say?

Wow! Rather than speculate perhaps just keep quiet because there are many reasons behind this decision and they have had no choice but to draw a line in the sand.

The club should be ashamed of themselves to be honest!

What ambition??? We’re going the same way as Hungerford.

Managing at one club for 9 ½ years is unheard of in football at any level, and says a lot for what Neil and Jon have done at Slough Town; on top of that, two promotions and two proper FA cup runs.

All done when half the time the club was homeless, and whilst they managed one of the smaller budgets in the leagues – and kept to it!

Honest match interviews – good and bad, keeping the fans informed – but maintaining the right level of privacy for matters that should not be public.

Always having players wanting to come and play for them.

Having the time/balls to come on this forum and let us fans know the truth about stories doing the rounds.

However, all good things must come to an end, and I think Neil and Jon have called this correctly as the “joy” of the football had started to evaporate recently.

It could be said that the fans have been spoilt by having such managers, compared to some of the “wannabes” that are found at other clubs.

So it is with sadness that we say goodbye to a double act who have spoilt the Slough fans with wonderful achievements and great memories, which will form the future legends of the club.

Thank you and good luck in the future.

P.S.

I could never work out which was Ant or Dec, Eric or Ernie, Cannon or Ball, Little or large………

Thanks as ever for your openness and honesty, Neil. I personally will never forget what you have done for the club, not only 2 promotions but also built a reputation as a well run club with a sense of decency running throughout, I hope we are able to build on your legacy.

All the best for whatever you do next.
