Just a couple of weeks ago I heard a whisper that a rich businessman was going to invest in the club. I said at the time I thought it was bollo*ks ! 😭

Awful news, and news I've been fearing for quite a while. I'd say this has echoes of Eddie Denton leaving us back in 2006 and the events that followed, but I hope and pray that I'm wrong on this however.

Bakes and Unders transformed the club from homeless perpetual failure into believers, ending years of near-misses in the process and got us established two levels higher than when they came to us. Managers who have done that must be few and far between. Last season I think they both worked a minor miracle in keeping us in this division (bearing in mind the challenges of the pandemic and lockdown) on what must have been a shoestring budget. They will always be legends in my book.

Local manager Bobby Wilkinson if/when they get knocked out of the FA cup tomorrow?

He wouldn’t be sacked or would resign if they lose their replay (no pressure on them as they wouldn’t be expected to win anyway). Although Weymouth have had their budget slashed it’s probably still higher than ours plus they’re a bigger club with a large potential fan base. I fully expect the 3 man interim management team to be given time to prove their worth whilst the board draw up a list/advertise and interview. I think it’s likely to be a lower division manager.

The only reason I say that is because he lives somewhere near Reading and a local club might appeal.

Do you think the Slough board should rush in a manager? I don't, I think we need to see how Lee Togwell, Scott Davis and Manny Williams do in the next couple of weeks and see who stays and who leaves. Possibly those three may be a success. It may come down to defining who's in charge out of those three. Let's give them a chance.

I'm happy to speculate who could be our next manager on this forum but I feel we must see what these these three players stepping up do. It's not beyond the realms of possibility that they could do well.

As I said by the time the board advertise, approach candidates and interview this proximate take a month which gives the three time to get results and put their hats in the ring. Obviously giving the job to all or 1 or 2 of the interim 3 would be the easiest and cheapest option but I’m really hoping to see some decent names linked.

As a matter of interest now that Bakes,Unders and Trent have left to be replaced by Lee, Scott and Manny does that mean we have money to get 3 other players in?

Glen I'm not saying the players were told.

It's a bit like someone wanting out of their company and they start looking for another job.

So you’re saying the managers were being unprofessional by not giving it their all because they knew they were going to resign? I think after all these years we should know they’re not that type of people.
