Something that worked well was Steve's updates which explained what was happening at the club, especially when the ground was being developed.

Maybe something similar which explains the current position of the club, covering what the club knows about what the council's position is on the ground, and feedback on this season from the boards perspective.

I am sure that communications from the board to the fans would be welcomed, and stop speculation.

Not the communications I was expecting!

A few clubs have a players fund that fans contribute to which either is set aside to sign a player whether that’s permanent or on loan or it’s to top up the weekly budget. At Slough we have 500 regulars, would it be possible for every fan to contribute an average of £5 a month adding an extra £2500 a month to the playing budget? This could be enough to sign a quality player (circa £600 per week).

Glen this is a great idea, and as you say happens at some clubs already.

And of course not every fan could afford to contribute but what’s the harm in putting the question out there? The extra it raises may mean we sign that 1 player that may have just been out of reach and you never know may be what keeps us up or not.

Another option would be to join the 500 club. This is £5 a month and also gives the member a chance of winning some money as well. (which if they wished they could donate back)

Joining the 500 club is a great idea but it's split 50/50.

At this present time I would say we need 100% going to the playing budget to achieve max effect.

At this time the club has not asked for any money, the board has stated they are not in debt, and all that has been officially started is that the budget is being reviewed due to the lower than expected season ticket sales, one sponsor was replaced by another.

The club even said in the last statement that at this time it was not going to be asking the fans for money.

So what is the panic in wanting to raise money?

Maybe because some fans are very concerned and want to financially assist the club in any way they can. Just because the club have stated they won’t ask (for valid reasons) doesn’t mean they wouldn’t accept. If we’re all in this together then where exactly is the harm?

The club is not in debt which is a huge plus but because ticket sales and attendances are down, the budget, as it currently stands is probably not going to last much longer unless the club can find some generous benefactors.

In the statement the club said that it will not ask the supporters to chip in because they thought it would be unfair due to the current cost of living crisis.

I don't see the thinking behind that because they are taking the stance, without putting it out there, that most supporters cannot afford to help the club out.

I think communication by the club is key because unless you're are a board member none of us know exactly how desperate the current situation is.
