Low priority in my opinion given our recent slide down the league table

It's been a low priority for years !

What team starts the season thinking they need a good showing in the Berks and Bucks Cup? !

I don't know why they don't scrap it, or incentivise it by making it a competition every 3 or 4 years say, and make it for more prize money and bring in two other counties like Surrey and Hampshire. That would make it a lot more interesting to fans and to the teams, than what it is currently

It's a low priority until we reach the semi final/final and then the interest multiplies.

Yes I agree. I was going to make that point but veered off kilter, ha ha!

For some maybe, personally I’d only go if we got to the final and even then I’d have to think about it! But yes it’s a pointless cup and I’m sure there’s no prize money and the big teams obviously don’t play their best sides so there’s no attraction.

As Rebellier has said our current league position is a bit precarious and with the possibility of being dragged into a relegation scrap the B&B in the initial rounds has to be a low priority.

Problem for us is we have such a small squad and with no U23 backup we have to play our first team squad. I doubt Maidenhead will play their strongest side but should still have enough quality to get past us.

While I don't believe Slough will storm up the league with the squad we currently have, I don't see our team being relegation fodder either. Losing key players through injury could alter that, of course, or if our joint managers left but hopefully that won't happen.

I thought last night's point at Welling was a good one. Saturday's game against Hungerford is a match that Slough need to win in my book. On paper I would venture that Slough have the edge in terms of player quality and to me this is an important game for the Rebels, that needs to be fought for. Losing won't really matter but it certainly won't bring much belief to the squad if we do. As usual our problem will be scoring goals.

It will be sod's law if Dan Roberts scores against us

Player quality doesn't tend to come to the fore in matches at Hungerford.

It's all about scrapping and who wants it more and Hungerford are normally well up for these type of games upsetting the so called 'bigger sides'.

I know it's early day's and losing on Saturday won't be the end of the world but other sides below us have games in hand and I think we would be seriously looking over our shoulders if clubs below us pick up points.

If there was some decent prize money involved you could then think about expanding the competition to include other counties and call it something like the inter counties cup.

I suppose the problem being these county cups have been going for years and I would think counties are are very reluctant to lose the tradition of having their own name on the various county cups.

1-1 at 90 minutes and lost 7-6 on pens.

Didn't go to the game as the Noddy Cup has no interest for me at all (FWIW from earlier in the thread, we didn't bother with the final we won either as it is 100% the most pointless cup ever and if we had the money in the club, we should be paying to not be in it, waste of time) but did follow along from Uxbridge v Leatherhead.

I suspect given the situation from the past 24-48 hours and the fact that we were without many of the squad (1 sub by the looks of twitter) the boys can take alot of heart from that result and performance. I'm sure some of the young lads were pleased to get a chance to play and perform and perhaps with Manny, Lee and Scott incharge for now, some of them may have opened their eyes to the younger talent we have and staked a claim for a place in the starting 11.

With Hanwell now on the horizon, hopefully the new management team saw enough to give themselves a good idea of a team etc for that game as a win in the trophy could be exactly the pick me up the club needs currently.

Got to say it, we were fantastic last night....a couple of specific shout outs from what I saw.

Goddard and Lench seemed to be playing with more freedom than recently and we were far more creative as a result.

Gabe George - My word, where did that kid go, he's tall, strong and quick. Being out on loan seems to have done him the world of good

Manny, Oh Manny, what a performance. To see a 42 (i think thats his age) man dancing around National league defenders inside the final 3rd was a joy. Seen lots of comments from Maidenhead fans on how good he was too.

No matter what happens from this point with the new management etc, it was clear that every person in that ground from those on the pitch to those in the stands had a desire to serve with honour. Up the Rebels

Also, best wishes to Brin, hopefully it wasn't too bad

Is our luck changing ?

Unders'  had made several comments recently about us not having been given a penalty for a long, long time.

The first game since Bakes' and Unders' have stepped down and we get  to take EIGHT in one match !

Have to say that considering he hasn't played for a long time and wasn't down on the team sheet to start the game, ( as well as being 110 years old),  I thought Manny gave  a very impressive performance up front.

Sounds like he did but more concerning was Benyon pulling out at the last minute, anyone know what type of injury it is? If he’s out plus Ben got injured on Saturday (and to be fair is never not going to be injured at some point) we may have to start Manny up front with Kayani which isn’t ideal but hopefully our new threesome are already looking into new players and you’d think Scott would have many contacts and a few favours he could ask?

Just watched the Scott Davies post match interview [strange seeing him there and not Bakes or Unders] and thought he came over well in his thoughts of last night's game.

I took it that we went with a 3-4-2-1, am I right on this?  I like the idea of our players playing with more freedom and being able to express themselves. Obviously in the National South league it is not always as easy to do but I like the idea that our 3 caretaker managers are changing the team up from what Bakes and Unders were doing and bringing fresh ideas to how our squad operates. I hope they give Gabe George another run out for Saturday,as if he played so well against Maidenhead he should retain his place . Hopefully, we also have Josh Jackson,Ben Harris and the Wycombe loanee available for the Hanwell match, too.

It has just been brought to my attention that my maths could do with a little improvement.

I said we had taken 8 penalties  in yesterday's match.

I was wrong.

I should have said NINE. ( One pen in normal time, six scored in the pen shoot out and two missed.).

Maths was never my strongest subject !
