Another game which imo should mark our return to winning ways.

Welling have played 16 league games  The first 8 (until the FA Cup came along) produced 5wins and a draw and had them in the top third of the table The second 8 produced just 1 win and 4 draws  as they struggled for wins They still have a reasonable league position on the strength of that first 8 games (Just 7/24 points from that second They've  scored more points away from home and as many away wins as home wins I think we are well placed to pick up 3 points from this one.

Adrian, not sure how you come to the conclusion that we are well placed to pick up the 3 points and that this game should mark our return to winning ways.

Forget about the beginning of the season etc, right now we are bottom of the form table in 24th position with 5 losses and 1 draw and Welling are 20th with 1 win 3 losses and 2 draws.

It should be a close fought game and we need to approach the game in a positive manner but no matter how you spin it Welling are at home and on current results alone are favorites to win the game.

RR  Fact is that in the last 8 league games Welling have collected just 2 points more than us  and are also on a poor run  Some people at present seem to look for reasons why we can't win games I look for the positives!

Although I had high hopes of a Slough victory its difficult to be too disappointed with a point away on a Tuesday night  A very good defensive display and another excellent display from Rhys earning a clean sheet ( the first of many I'm  sure  Our  next opponents are Hungerford  beaten tonight  now 23rd  with just 9 points  lets hope we are fired up after tonights display!

Adrian, who were your stand-out players on the night?

Well that 90+ minutes of football won't stay long in the memory.

A pretty poor game of football but  the cliche " a battling hard fought point won away from home"  was very true here.

I didn't think we had any "decent" chances to score, but then again even though Welling had by far the bulk of the possession the whole game I don't recall many "heart in the mouth" type incidents on our goal either.

To be honest though I might have missed some in the first half as with Welling attacking the end by the High Street and with me standing near the opposite penalty area it was hard to make things out in the gloom down at that end.

Blimey Welling, are your floodlights the worst in the league ?

Ben won his normal majority of headers against a team that had their usual quota of at least 9 Welling players being at least 6 foot 2.

There were a few "niggles" between players going on during the  game, even one when the players were walking towards the tunnel at half-time,   which the lady ref didn't do much about.

We had the game stopped in the first half to allow a Welling player to put his boot back on.

When did that rule come in ?

Perhaps I'm old school but to me if your boot comes off then the game shouldn't be stopped for you to put it back on.

Finally, I wonder if this morning the Welling number 19 has any pricks of conscience having read the reports and tweets this morning about what happened to the Bath City player Alex Fletcher in their match against Dulwich last night ?

Alex apparently collided with the hoardings surrounding the pitch and is now in a serious condition in an ICU.

I think it was Scotty Davies who looked like a similar thing happened to him last night, and the number 19 was extremely vocal is saying that Scotty should be left there by the hoarding and the game continue as he was off the pitch.

I'd like to think the number 19 has some self awareness about him today.

I wasnt at the game so rely on various social media and newspaper reactions  mostly from Welling so far Rhys received excellent comments and after recent criticism so did  Wellsy and Jon was clearly happy with a good defensive performance and a clean sheet  Perhaps some who were at the game will post a report.
