I was sure that them playing tonight whilst we rested until Sat was to our advantage until their 0-6 result at Hampton Now I'm  not sure

They're  a bit like Worthing  Cant buy a home win (1) but no club has won more away games (5)

Lets hope  we can play to the best of our known abilities and take something from this one.

It's all about being clinical and putting the ball in the back of the net.

Hampton had lots of chances but no goals, St Albans 7/8 chances 6 goals.

Hungerford manager Danny Robinson in his view said they were again the better side but couldn't convert their chances which seems to be the story of their season so far.

I’m probably going to be in the minority but from my view, row 3 in the stand right in front of the tackle, I thought it was a red card. Hollis gets the ball, no question, but in my opinion the force and angle of his foot on the follow through, looked like a potential leg breaker to me. Thankfully the player wasn’t seriously hurt but that’s by the by, I think people were too fixated on Guy getting the ball first, it’s judged on if it was dangerous play and I think it was.

A shame as it was shaping up nicely into a good performance and the effort with ten was commendable.

It sounds like we were almost sat next to each other and I thought it was the worst red card decision I’ve ever seen live, to say it was a potential leg breaker is ridiculous in my opinion. If that’s even a foul then I’m done with watching football. If it’s a red card then you’d see 4-5 red cards a game!.
Guy clearly went in strong but won the ball cleanly and caught the 9’s ankle on the follow through. His screams and the reaction of the bench were embarrassing - especially as he completed the 90 without even a limp. Their bench looked embarrassed when the red came out which should tell you a lot.

The referee was being assessed and I’d suggest was influenced by that. He guessed based on the reaction and in fear of getting it wrong went with a red.

We were dominating the game at that point so really frustrating.

I was sat far side and thought it looked a bit like a lunge. Sounded like both players kicked the ball at the same time. Same tackle away from their bench probably just a yellow though...

I felt we were unlucky to lose as we were the better side for much of the game. We acquitted ourselves well after the debatable red card, but unfortunately came up against their in-form goalkeeper with two fantastic saves, and had one headed off the line. I can only recall St Albans having three chances of note throughout the game and all resulted in goals, with the last one coming in the last minute as we were chasing the game. At the end of the day all that matters is that it was another comfortable defeat against a side I thought looked quite average.

Special mention to Ben Harris who, following the sending off yet again let the adrenaline get the better of him by not only talking his way into the book, but following up with a blatant dive not long afterwards. Could easily (and should have) been a quick second yellow and red leaving us with nine men. Absolutely the correct decision to sub him off.

I was on the far side to Guy's tackle and my first thought and comment was 'great tackle, went in strong but won the ball cleanly'.

Unfortunately it was right by the away dug out who immediately all jumped up and ran onto the pitch screaming and shouting putting tremendous pressure on the ref and along with Jeffers laying motionless on the floor 'pole axed' clutching his supposedly injured leg the weak and incompetent ref caved in to the pressure and produced a red card.

What looked like being a good game was now totally ruined by the inept ref.

Onto the game itself I thought we showed great character in making a game of it and with a bit of luck could have salvaged something from the game.

Our goal from a good move between Johnny Goddard and Lenchy who produced an excellent cross for Matshazi to finish off at the near post.

I'm not concerned about their 3rd goal because we going for it trying to get an equalizer but if I'm honest I thought their 2nd goal was the result of some poor defending from us on the left side of our defence.

Yep some questionable defending of late despite our goalie being top notch.

Ok I'm going to say it....Wellsy isn't the player he once was.

I had a good view of the Guy Hollis tackle and  although he won the ball his leg followed through on the defenders ankle, which by the letter of

the law these days is a foul. As to whether it was a sending off is debatable. Shame really, as we  were the better side but playing 60 plus minutes

with ten men you are always going to be up against it.

I was pleased to hear Unders say in his after match interview that he'd seen the video of the Guy Hollis incident and that it showed that it was in no way  a sending off offence, and that the club were confident that the red card would be overturned after an appeal.

I was watching from the other side of the pitch and have to say that my initial reaction to seeing the incident was  " Guy could be in trouble here. I hope the ref doesn't give a red."

What I thought I saw may be totally different to what I see on the video, but that was my gut reaction at the time.

It really didn't help Guy's cause that the incident took place in the vicinity of the away dug out.

Back in the day when nobody would have batted an eyelid at such a challenge, the away "dug out" consisted of the manager, a physio with his bucket and sponge and the one sub.

Nowadays the dug outs consist regularly of the manager ( or two), physio, various coaching staff, 5 subs and others.

When they all get up as one and run together along the touchline after an incident that has happened against their team, it takes a strong ref to ignore them.

Especially when the incident has happened close to them.

It was very disappointing to go down to 10 men, as we had started the game so well.

When we went a goal down I thought that was the end of the contest, but great credit is due to the team for coming back so strongly when 1 nil down and again when 2 1 down.

Another day we would have earned a well deserved point, but fortune isn't on our side at the moment.

I can't remember ever commenting on a match before but I have to say that I really felt for everyone involved with the team yesterday.

The effort and desire we showed was just incredible but sadly things beyond our control went against us ( I won't go further into that ).

We have had so many things go against us recently but you can see the spirit within the team is still there and we can go to Welling on tuesday and get those 3 points.

I for one will be there cheering my team on knowing we have the skill and belief to get that win we so deserve.

It's a contact sport but as you say it depends on the nature of the contact/intention.

Was it a studs up or two footed tackle that was out of control and could have done some serious damage to a player?

If so it was red card if not a yellow card at best.

I don't know the answer but hopefully the video will clear it up.

I think both Wellsy and Josh Jackman are still good players.

As with most players at this level they have their strengths and weaknesses.

Both players main strengths imo are going forward, bringing the ball out of defence and scoring the odd good goal.

Conversely both players are slow off the mark/vulnerable when attacked by pace/movement.

Having said that, like a lot of players at this level, if they didn't have these weaknesses they would probably be playing at a higher level.
